@chamath $ABML key ex @Tesla staff members lead by Ryan Melsert ramping to a 20,000 mtpa closed loop lithium battery recycling pilot plant with tech that is 100% green aka not smelting in Nevada. Huge growth area over the next 20 years and they having world class tech certified by @BASF
Melsert at the last benchmark minerals conference talking about their process, his team, building the Tesla Nevada gigafactory including cell production from the ground up and the recycling industry as a whole. He is word class in this area $abml
@chamath@Tesla@BASF With the right guidance and connections this startup could be anything imo
@chamath@Tesla@BASF They are rough around the edges in lots of areas but what startup isn’t, they have what’s important in the tech. Imo everything else can be moulded
@chamath@Tesla@BASF Redwood materials has received lots of hype recently but knowing their latest they smelt all material which is bad for the environment and can only recover 50%-80% of the precious metals to be recycled into new cathode material. $ABML is 95%+ total closed loop/no toxic material.
@chamath@Tesla@BASF Essentially imo Ryan was JB Straubel and Elon’s battery/recycling guy at Tesla. This closed loop system is his life’s work, Tesla it seems is using its resources for growth and recycling even though they did mention it on battery day is not their highest priority.
@chamath@Tesla@BASF 20,000 mtpa pilot in Nevada planned to be finished by March, construction to start any day🤞🏻pending planning approvals etc.
