That was just after the President declared a National Emergency due to the pandemic.

You know, President Trump? The guy that downplayed the pandemic. Yeah, that guy. He declared a National Emergency back in March.

And how many people even remember what #15DaysToSlowTheSpread was even about? Was it intended to stop the pandemic? Was it to give the researchers time to develop a vaccine?

No. It was to intended to keep from overwhelming the nation's hospitals' ICUs.

But, on March 30th, #15DaysToSlowTheSpread became 45 days. And after that? Well, I don't remember anyone even bothering to announce any more extensions. April 30th came and went, and we all just stayed in lockdown.

Then, we were told that any reopening would be based on a downward trend in case numbers (even though the numbers of testing kits, which had been an issue since February, was increasing). More kits = more tests = more positives = more cases.

And slowly, even that criteria began to change. People began to insist that we had to wait to reopen the nation until there was a vaccine widely available.

Of course, these same people were saying that Trump's claims that we could see a vaccine by the end of the year were "unrealistic." So, they were basically saying that they want to keep America in lockdown until AT LEAST 2021.

So, now that it looks like Trump was right, and a vaccine may be available under Emergency Use conditions by the end of the year, what are we being told? We're told that masks and social distancing will still be necessary EVEN after you get the vaccine!
