2/n. In mobile world, which runs on duopoly today, ‘Apple Phone📱 Release’ event is no less significant than unveiling of Boeing 737Max. Ardent followers of Apple Devices📱watch the release, a mega event that happened on-line this year in massive numbers, even staying awake in🇮🇳
3/n
Apple, every year, manages to surprise with new features, which I often believe are reaching end of the line and can’t grow beyond a certain level, and every time am proven wrong by phenomenal team at apple 🍎.
4/n
The new phone, 12 series & iOS 14 has upped the ante (a blog will follow soon) with new A10 bionic chip that claims to do trillion tasks in seconds. Well, if you have used the phone, you may agree.
What Slowdown - stand in queue ! The iPhone 12 registered massive demand,
5/n
perhaps bigger than ever for phones released by firm earlier.
The new phone supports a fast charging 🔌 mechanism and it supports charging at 20 watts. Now here it is tricky, phone doesn’t come with charging socket and is to be bought separately.
6/n
It costs anything around 2K. Else use the earlier bought slow charger.
Go on Amazon and you will find the charges are suddenly off the shelf because, 1) new buyers got added and 2) supply of goods from China is patchy.
7/n Here is the thing; why Indian manufacturers of mobile accessories failed to act in time & be ready for sudden demand which will remain constant for foreseeable future? WhyChina has plenty of firms selling it, not only to India 🇮🇳 but globally?
8/n
Means they were well prepared to ride the demand and benefit from it.
20 watt, to my mind, is a metaphor for our indifference to staying ahead in the game, not capitalising on opportunities like these and content being a trading community!
9/n For success of Aatmnirbhar Bharat broadly we need to understand this very dynamics & why 5000 odd products that🇨🇳supplies globally can’t be made here? Most importantly why we are not the one to think 5001+++ and are happy to import them and place them on Amazon and Flipkart?
10/n
India is a giant when it comes to manufacturing but these small goods are bought more often and add up to large purchase bill in FCY, and we are far from efficient & self reliant in this space.
11/n
Now go and check a wifi router, WiFi router extender, phone charging wires, sockets, covers; see where are they manufactured. No prize for guessing. Same was the case for the goods sold in Diwali 🪔.
12/n Boycotting goods isn’t the answer, where are the alternatives being made locally? Why our entrepreneurial skills do not focus on these areas?
Why blame consumer, if he needs something, he’ll buy from wherever it is available & available cheap- “Including 20 watt charger🔌“
13/13
And why Government has to inject these thoughts and needs in our minds ? We owe it our nation too.
Be Indian, Buy Indian - for that “Make Indian. “
