Ok. Was pretty down for a minute there, but went to Runza over halftime and now ready to get the Huskers back in this game. Also going to start forcing my children to watch with me in various combinations until we discover who is the “good luck kid”
First up: Preston. Wants me to change the channel to Boss Baby. Off to a bad start, guy.
Is held to a field goal good enough to keep his seat? Do we bring in one of the other kiddos? This is a tough call.
OK - six points on the ledger for the oldest son. He stays...for now.
Defensive performance is not good enough. Going to need to bring in some relief. Younger son coming into the game.
Fumble. New kid not pulling his weight. Kid #3 on her way.
Oldest daughter bringing energy. Started a GO BIG RED cheer already. I think the tide will turn soon.
Daughter also hating on alternate unis. “WHAT ARE THEY WEARING?”
None of the three are paying attention. Daughter wants to go back upstairs. Says all the cheering wore her out. This is a lack of leadership, and I have to own that. Can’t point fingers, only the thumb.
Boys are tuned back in. Daughter called it quits. Can’t blame her. She came in running hot and burned herself out like the shooting star she is. Godspeed, Blakely.
Oldest son calls it. Offers some positivity on his way out, “I hope the Huskers score a thousand points and they win.” Me too, pal. Me too.
Only the younger son remains, and he’s not exactly dialed in. Wants me to read him a book. Specifically, the instruction manual to the microwave. Not sure even the Stuntz Kids can save us now.
