1/10- Just read who posted $2Mil bale for Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse - it was MyPillow's Mike Lindell. Before I opine, I must first state that I respect our 2nd Amendment, and I'm trained beyond most. I also CC, but you'd never know it.
2/10- As for Rittenhouse, he knowingly traveled over state lines with the intent to inject himself into a highly-volatile setting, w/an AR-format weapon, that is built to intimidate. He went to Kenosha to knowingly become involved in conflict.
3/10- Had he not intended to become involved in the emotionally-fueled chaos, then he should've never shown up. The fact that he DID make an appearance with an AR-platform firearm shows INTENT. Yes, most of us who carry will state that we hope to never use it.
4/10- However, the right to self-protect yourself and others is not license to pursue potentially violent environments thinking you can just shoot anyone whom you decide is threatening.
5/10- I'm trained at LEO level, but CC level teaches you that the first thing you should try to do is disengage and seek safety out of line of sight of shooter. Rittenhouse didn't do that. It also seems that he voluntarily and repeatedly provoked others.
6/10- That's not saying he didn't have the right to protect himself, but it sure as hell changes the dynamic of INTENT. Did he travel to Kenosha with the INTENT of killing two people?
7/10- My guess is probably not, but it doesn't seem that he considered it and thought ahead to contemplate what is considered manslaughter. As a former correctional sergeant at two Wisconsin state prisons, one of them being in Portage, the one where Jeff Dahmer died,
8/10- I read many case files - out of a desire to know who I was supervising, but also out of curiosity. I'm not a criminal attorney, but I've read hundreds of court cases. I think Rittenhouse is likely to be found guilty of 2nd or 3rd degree manslaughter or reckless homicide.
9/10- I'm guessing. I think he does deserve prison, as he has to learn a lesson, and only time will grant him that. I don't think he's a bad person, he made a bad decision to go there and get involved when he shouldn't have. He went there believing deadly force was what he needed
10/10- instead of researching how to get involved in protests without escalating violence. Feel free to reply to this post. However, I'm not going to waste my time arguing the 'correctness' of my opinion - because that's what it is, my opinion. I posted it as a thought project.

1/5- My statement copied of my FB page: Progressive Political Views: What's happening has no logical backing. Our democracy is in peril. Trump's demands, and GOP backing, have crossed a line beyond dangerous. It's what the founders meant when they talked about domestic terror.
2/5- The presidential election was not stolen or breached in any way that delegitimized the results. Trump is a dangerous man and his niece, Mary - a clinical psychologist - warned us. I am at a loss of words (which those who know me is unusual). We must make this end.
3/5- I'm confident the state and federal investigations have uncovered a lot. But we have to stop him from further threatening Biden's legitimate win and allow the transition to continued in an unhampered manner. Trump's game is to make people lose their belief
