In 1990 Ferdinand Marcos dummy Roberto Benedicto surrendered to the Philippine gov't the California Overseas Bank. Marcos used it to launder money including Imelda's shopping & purchase of U.S. properties. Marcos gave Benedicto the sugar monopoly that caused the Famine of Negros 
In 1982 Imelda Marcos bought the former home of Charlie Chaplin in Beverly Hills using Hollywood actor George Hamilton. The money came from crony Antonio Floirendo Sr. who admitted funneling it for Imelda. It was paper sold to crony Adnan Khashoggi who forfeited it to the PCGG
Pres. Reagan protected Marcos to a fault but was forced to asked him to go because of People Power. Eventually Reagan stayed away frm Marcos after news of the loot Marcos brought to Hawaii & proof of hidden assets Marcos stashed in the U.S.. Reagan realized Marcos was a big crook
In 1986 Imee Marcos was sued by Archimedes Trajano's mother for the torture & murder of her son in Hawaii. Imee admitted knowledge but argued immunity under the For. Sov. Immunities Act. The court disregarded her argument under the Alien Tort Statute & awarded Trajano $4.16 mill.
In 1981 Imelda Marcos thru crony Antonio Floirendo Sr. bought the Helen Knudsen Estate in Makiki Heights, Hawaii. Floirendo surrendered the estate to the PCGG in 1987 together w/ other Marcos properties & cash as part of a compromise agreement. It was sold for $1.7million in 1995
In '74 Imelda Marcos hosted the Ms. Universe pageant. She asked Ms. S. Africa "What does yr father do?" & she replied "He's in the mining business!". Imelda replied "I'm in the mining business too! That's mine, that's mine & that is mine. In fact everything you see here is mine!"
