Some things to watch for in todays Steelers/Jaguars game. Records are two different ends of the spectrum (9-0 vs 1-8) but these games always find a way to be close...
Starting with Jags' offense. Tomlin touched on issue of lack of familiarity with QB Jake Luton. Third career start. Had issues with Driskel off the bench vs DEN, Gilbert vs DAL. So focused on run, forget about pass game. Luton has live arm + speed at WR.
Chark, Conley, Cole all have ability to get vertical. Chark & Conley ran 4.34/4.35 coming out. Cole big-play guy too including STs (91 yard PR TD last week vs GB). All three averaging over 12 YPC. Use playaction for vert pass game. PIT can't keep blowing coverages like they have.
Of course, Jags will lean on run game. James Robinson 20+ carries the last three weeks. Powerful, downhill runner. Can't let him drag defenders, turn 3-4 gains into 6-7. Gotta rally to ball, DBs gotta put face in the fan.
Defensively, structured similarly to the Bengals. 4-3 front, very limited pass rush (9 sacks - last in football). Josh Allen is like Carl Lawson. Athletic RDE with lots of pressure, few sacks.
Run ball inside & downhill. Too much speed at LB to get ball on perimeter.
Secondary had talent but losing key pieces in Henderson (IR) and Jones (out this week). Attack backups the way they did against the Bengals. Keep spreading things out, use bunch sets, stress their depth.
Todd Wash is a good DC who gets creative in his blitz schemes. Pressure isn't getting home but not for lack of effort. Ben's struggled against him. 7 TDs/9 INTs in three matchups against him.
