Monday the Michigan Board of State Canvassers is supposed to certify the election results. The board has 2 Republicans and 2 Democrats.

@RepPaulMitchell, R-Michigan, says one of the Republicans has been planning for awhile to vote against certification. ...
2/ Mitchell says he spoke days ago with Norman Shinkle, one of the two GOP members of the Michigan Board of State Canvassers.

Shinkle indicated last week he would vote against certifying the election results, Mitchell says, until an investigation is completed...
3/ This is being done, Mitchell says, so as to push a delay *even though there is no evidence of fraud or malfeasance that would necessitate such a move.*

Depending on how the other GOP member of the board, Aaron Van Langevelde, votes, Mitchell tells CNN...
4/ ... either members of the Trump team (1) end up delaying the certification of the election results or (2) they have something that they can point to as evidence of unfairness, even if it isn’t.

“It’s a win-win” for the Trump team, Mitchell says...
5/ ...since it will either be able to delay the inevitable Biden transition process or have more ammo to falsely claim Trump won the election.

“State election law provides for no process or ability to conduct such an ‘investigation,’” Mitchell tells CNN.
6/ Shinkle has previously said he is thinking about voting to delay the process; his wife Mary filed an affidavit for the since-dropped Trump campaign lawsuit trying to block the certification.
7/ On Friday, Mitchell co-authored an oped with Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-MI, calling on Trump to acknowledge the reality that Biden won Michigan by about 154,000 votes. “President Donald Trump should accept those facts and allow the rest of the county to move forward,” he wrote.
8/ CNN has been trying to reach Hinkle for days to no avail.

Let’s take a moment to acknowledge 4 Republican officials who despite pressure from the president and his party remained allegiant to facts and truth and democracy and integrity... and math :

Aaron Van Langevelde
2/ We can’t pretend we all haven’t watched the president and the RNC attempt to undermine the results of the election by overturning state election results by disenfranchising millions of voters, based on deranged conspiracy theories.

This happened.

It’s still happening!
3/ It sounds so far fetched — but it’s just factual!

And at the end of the day it came down to judges and election officials doing their jobs and sticking to facts while most GOP leaders kept silent.

But we shouldn’t take comfort in the fact the system worked.

1/ This is being pointed out elsewhere on this website (originally at the pro-Trump Powerline) but just in case you’re missing it... I kindly direct you to this affidavit offered by Lin Wood who has been trying and failing to stop the GA certification…
2/ The affidavit is from Russell Ramsland who we’re told is an expert on cyber security. He’s attacking Dominion software.

Further I direct you to graph 17 of the affidavit which allegedly details suspicious activity in Wayne County, Michigan:
3/ So what happens if you search for Spruce Grove Township, as mentioned above?

I have some great news about the @HomesForOurTrps auction that ended last night!

As you know, a bunch of us — this year George Clooney, @mindykaling, @Wynonna, and me — ask athletes and actors and more to contribute swag and set visits and lunches for auction. The money goes...
2/ @HomesForOurTrps, a top-rated charity that builds specially-designed homes for severely injured veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan and their families.

Last year we raised $265k for the auction but this year because of the pandemic we set our goal lower — to $150K....
3/ We were worried because the items that usually go for the most $ tend to be participatory in nature: set visits or lunches or tickets to shows.

The COVID19 pandemic and economic crisis preclude those kind of items.

New from me: Esper memo warned conditions weren't met for withdrawal from Afghanistan…
Some info from my reporting:

Esper wants the US to get out of Afghanistan to focus on China and Russia;

he doesn’t think Afghanistan is a vital national interest, though it cannot be allowed to become a haven for terrorists who want to attack the US
The Esper memo reflected the unanimous opinion of the chain of command -- Esper, US Central Command leader Marine Gen. Kenneth "Frank" McKenzie, and commander of NATO's mission in Afghanistan Gen. Austin Miller
