Why would giving families a choice "take money from public schools"?🤔
Why would families choose charters if they have "no accountability"?🤔
Charter schools are directly accountable to families

If a charter school underperforms it shuts down

If a district school underperforms it gets more money.
Oh and charter schools are public schools that don’t discriminate by zipcode.
Charter schools don't "take money from public schools"

Trader Joe's similarly doesn't "take money" from Walmart

The money doesn't belong to any particular institution.
Education funding is meant for educating children - not for protecting a government monopoly.

We should fund students instead of systems.

The Ohio legislature passed a bill to expand their private school choice program.

House passed: 53-36
Senate passed: 24-8

But the teachers union is now trying to get the governor to veto the bill.
The union claims school choice "diverts resources from public schools"

But why would giving families a choice divert resources from public schools?🤔
That claim is absurd.

Allowing families to choose their grocery store doesn't "divert resources from Safeway"

Allowing families to choose their school doesn't "divert resources from public schools"

The money doesn't belong to any particular institution.

The nation’s largest teachers union released a "policy playbook" for the Biden administration:

• "Oppose all charter school expansion"
• "Bar federal funding to charter schools"
• Regulate all charter schools
• Abolish the D.C. school choice program for low-income students
These policies all protect the monopoly at the expense of families.

We should fund students instead of institutions.

The Ohio legislature passed a bill to expand their private school choice program.

It's awaiting the governor's signature.
The bill expands eligibility from 200% of the federal poverty level to 250%
"The revision bill passed 51-36 with Republicans in favor and Democrats opposed."

"The bill passed the GOP-controlled Senate 24-8 on Wednesday, also along party lines."
