The Terminator is the first work in the Terminator franchise and the first film of the movie series. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Biehn, and Linda Hamilton, with Lance Henriksen, Paul Winfield and Earl Boen in supporting roles.
The film opens with the depiction of the year 2029—a possible future where mankind has been oppressed by artificially intelligent machines, lead by the rebellious computer system Skynet.
This computer became sentient and started a nuclear war by hijacking control of the United States' nuclear arsenal, launching the ICBM's in a devastating attempt to annihilate humanity.
Subsequently, a post-apocalyptic war is raged in the future, where a small Resistance group of free humans try to win back their planet and survive the machine onslaught, lead by the heroic, influential General John Connor.
Connor is the man responsible for the creation of the human resistance, and credited with rescuing mankind from extinction by rallying survivors to combat Skynet's forces.
As a young man, Schwarzenegger gained widespread attention as a highly successful bodybuilder. He later gained worldwide fame as a Hollywood action film icon.
Schwarzenegger played the title role in the 1984 film The Terminator, and reprised the role in the 1991 sequel, Terminator 2: Judgment Day and the 2003 follow up, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
He also lent his voice and a CG model of his face to the 2009 film Terminator Salvation, to be used in conjunction with Roland Kickinger's body as the T-800.[2] On April 26, 2011 it was announced that Pacificor, then-current rights holder to the Terminator franchise.

He portrayed Guardian in the film Terminator Genisys, which was meant to be the start to a new trilogy. Schwarzenegger later portrayed Carl in Terminator: Dark Fate, a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Michael Connell Biehn (born July 31, 1956) is an American actor, who portrayed Kyle Reese in the 1984 film The Terminator.
Best known for his roles in James Cameron's science fiction action films The Terminator, Aliens, and The Abyss, Michael is one of the most prolific actors in the sci-fi/action genres, having appeared in over 40 movies during the 1980s and 1990s.
Linda Hamilton is an American actress who portrays Sarah Connor, the mother of future savior of humanity John Connor, in the Terminatorfranchise.
Linda Carroll Hamilton was born September 26th, 1956, in Salisbury, Maryland. Following high school, Linda studied for two years at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, before moving on to acting studies in New York.
In New York, she attended acting workshops given by Lee Strasberg. Her first parts where small parts in television series, with her biggest break coming with her role as Sarah Connor in The Terminator(1984) and its sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day(1991).
Most known to the public at large from her part in the television series Beauty and the Beast(1987) in addition to Sarah Connor.

Matt Buchanan was the boyfriend of Ginger Ventura. He had a friendly, outgoing, and slightly clownish personality and seemed to like Sarah though she refers to him as creep.
Ginger Ventura was Sarah Connor's roommate and best friend, the two of them were extremely close.
Ginger and her boyfriend Matt Buchanan were killed the night. when the Terminator came to their apartment looking for Sarah not knowing she was not there at the moment.
She was killed by the Terminator thinking she was Sarah after her boyfriend was killed and it did it from behind with a gun. He shot at her six times to ensure she was definitely dead. Bess Motta portrayed Sarah Connor's roommate, Ginger Ventura in The Terminator.
