Biden is wasting no time putting together his thoroughly anti-worker, ultra-militarist government. Let's take a look at these cabinet picks. THREAD:
Long-time Biden aide Antony Blinken has secured the position of Secretary of State.

Blinken was Deputy Secretary of State during Barack Obama’s presidency, where he supported the disastrous war on Libya which created the conditions for the enslavement of Black people in Libya.
Earlier in Blinken’s career, when he was a top aide to then-Senator Joe Biden, he supported the invasion of Iraq and advocated the colonial-style partition of Iraq along sectarian lines.
Michele Flournoy is frontrunner to be named Secretary of Defense. She recently wrote an article where she emphasized how important it was that the U.S. military be able to credibly threaten to sink all Chinese vessels in the South China Sea in 72 hours.
Representative Cedric Richmond will lead the White House Office of Public Engagement. Richmond is notorious for his close ties to the oil and gas industry. His district includes 7 of the 10 most air-polluted census tracts in the country, according to the EPA.
The ONLY way to win Medicare for All, cancellation of student debt, and other desperately needed reforms under an administration so thoroughly reactionary is to demand it, and back up those demands with a fighting movement of the working class. Read more:

Alejandro Mayorkas will lead the Department of Homeland Security.

Mayorkas, whose father was a factory owner in Cuba before moving to the U.S. after the country’s revolution, was Obama's head of Citizenship and Immigration Services and as Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security.
He was part of the immigration team that helped Obama earn the nickname “Deporter in Chief” for carrying out an eye-popping number of deportations that spread terror in immigrant communities.
Jake Sullivan's spot as National Security Advisor suggests a Biden admin may seek to reduce tensions with Iran, which almost exploded until all-out war earlier this year.
Sullivan was reportedly part of the team that secretly met with Iranian officials in 2013 to initiate negotiations for the JCPOA nuclear deal, which the foreign policy establishment saw as a tactical retreat to allow U.S. imperialism to focus elsewhere, particularly on China.
All in all, these nominations are aimed at reassuring Wall Street that no major pro-worker reforms are on the table, and making it clear that the Biden administration is fully committed to using the U.S. war machine to dominate the globe. Read more:

PSL STATEMENT on the defeat of Donald Trump

More than 70 million people voted to oust Donald Trump. This was not a vote for Joe Biden, a truly uninspiring candidate who became the nominee when the Democratic Party ruling class establishment united to stop Bernie Sanders in March Image
Nor did the historic voter turnout for Biden signify support for his pro-Wall Street, pro-war positions and his role as an architect of the current system of policing and mass incarceration.
This morning the major corporate-owned media networks all announced that Joe Biden had sufficient electoral college votes to become the next president of the United States.

Right wing protesters have mobilized in several hotspots across the country following Tuesday’s election, using intimidation tactics in an attempt to tip the scales for Trump.
In Detroit yesterday a crowd of right wingers stormed a vote counting center to demand that absentee ballots not be tabulated, chanting “Stop the count!” The Trump campaign filed a lawsuit to halt vote-counting.
The racist character of the protests is clear considering Detroit is a city that is 79 percent African-American. On Nov 5. the Michigan Court of Claims denied the lawsuit, and counting is expected to continue for now.

🚨 EMERGENCY LIVESTREAM TONIGHT 8PM ET 🚨‼️

Police agencies in the Denver area arrested anti-racist organizers in a coordinated assault today. People were arrested in a Home Depot parking lot, at their homes, and after they were pulled over while driving.
Those arrested were the leaders to demand justice for Elijah McClain, who was brutally murdered by the Aurora Police Department. They are still in jail, with the exception of one person.
They are facing multiple felony charges and years in prison in an obvious frame-up aimed at stopping the movement for justice for Elijah McClain.

If you'd like to learn about communism, start with the Communist Manifesto. The Manifesto remains an inspiration for revolutionary change because it is not just the musings of social reformers, philosophers or political wannabes. It is a working class guide for changing the world
What separated the Communist Manifesto from the dozens of programs and manifestos issued by other revolutionary groups of the day? Why are all those other programs forgotten today but the Manifesto is still widely read?
Marx and Engels incorporated the most advanced political, economic and philosophical thought of the time into scientific socialism: determining the laws by which society changed and then applying those laws to bring about socialism and, in due course, a communist society.

Today is the 55th anniversary of the Watts rebellion.

On August 11, 1965, police pulled over Marquette Frye’s car. An altercation ensued, and a crowd quickly gathered as the police beat Marquette and his brother Ronald, before arresting them along with their mother Rena. Image
Within 30 minutes of the arrests, hundreds of people were in the streets in mass protest. Over the next 6 days, the Black community of Watts poured out into the streets by the tens of thousands in mass action against the social conditions they lived in.
The Watts rebellion exposed the true nature of the police force and who it protects - the ruling class. As the Black community rebelled, using force to change their economic and political situation, the government's main priority was to maintain the existing, racist social order.
