Legendary PAF fighter pilot Air Marshal (Retd) Dilawar Hussain, who was awarded Sitara-i-Jura’at for his heroics in the 1965 War against India, breathed his last in Islamabad today.

During 1965 War, he served in No 19 Squadron at PAF Base, Peshawar. Apart from inflicting heavy damage to Indian forces, his formation destroyed 14 aircraft on ground at Pathankot Airfield.

Zambus was the call sign of that formation and formation destroyed 14 🇮🇳jets including Mig-21s and damaged C-119 of IAF. During 65' war, he flew 10 AD sorties and 17 strike/close support missions.

His personal score of enemy tanks and aircraft on ground was 3 🇮🇳 aircrafts, 8 tanks destroyed; 1 aircraft and 4 tanks damaged, 1 armoured vehicle and 13 others destroyed; 9 vehicles and 1 gun damaged.
