Strange story from when India played Australia at Melbourne in 1986 - a "murdered" man was discovered in the crowd and the murderers acquitted.
Peter Burton of Sydney disappeared in May 1983. His wife Margaret Burke was in a relationship with a man named Ronald Burke.

Ms Burton and Burke were sentenced to life imprisonment in Nov 1984 on circumstantial evidence.
Then in January 1986, a man with sunglasses turned up at a World Series Cup match between Australia and India at the MCG who looked remarkably like Peter Burton.
+
Ms Burton produced nine witnesses to identify the person at Peter Burton. The videotape was produced at the court and the couple were acquitted of the charges of murder.
They still had to eight years in jail for the conspiracy to murder.

The news reports given the impression that the couple did plan to murder Burton. But he got wind of this and escaped and possibly staged his own death. Till apparently appearing at a cricket match.
