What annoys me about socialists is they never don't seem to know what producing goods & services actually entails, and why markets are so clever. Imagine any bureaucracy deciding how much soy to grow, or power to produce, or routes to fly? Common sense tells you that's cra-cra.
Which is why Dem Socialism pretends to be something else, and only limits its influence to SOME markets with SOME regulation (as we really do now). But Rosies admit their real aim is true Socialism, where, presumably, markets would be heavily regulated (thus, unworkable).
But ask the average Twitter user espousing Socialism and they think "Medicare for All." That isn't socialism. That's a "socialized service" controlled by the govt for a specific social goal, but still uses free-market actors (doctors, vendors, etc).

We need to #newlabels.
When conservatives bitch about "government controlling medicine," they are reactionary about it, but not completely wrong. When affordable Obamacare plans essentially put me in an HMO, I am forced to use only their doctors. I don't mind most of the time. Other times I'm enraged
But Republicans have declared war on any solution but practically unregulated predatory capitalism in every category of life, which has led to a complete breakdown of rational governing. But that doesn't mean the solution is some vague, catch-all nonsense like "socialism."
But liberals just can't get their shit together and message without pushing reactionary buttons. "Medicare for All" SOUNDS likes socialism. Bernie was TOLD this once. "National health care" was all it should have ever been called. Because that's all it ever was.
"Medicare for All" *sounds* like something that is being given to us, rather than something we are entitled to. Republicans have the @FrankLuntz types to shape their labels and avoid mistakes like that. He does it to serve evil people and motives, but he does it well.
@FrankLuntz Time and time again I have asked so-called socialists how they make the trains run on time. The answer is always some variation of "we'll work it out collectively & transparently."

How does that work? Like human microphones at an Occupy Assembly? They have no answer. #crickets
ATTENTION CITIZENS: We need more cat food manufacturing. We're having a meeting at 6 pm to elect a board of supervisors who will elect a committee to appoint a commission to establish amounts, quality and production schedules.

#TotalFuckingPoppycock
This is why many of us bristle when people throw the S word around. It always requires qualification. And even if someone made S work, it's associated w/ so much failure you'd want to change the label anyway.

If we defined terms better, we might get back to governing someday.
If you have ever been party of any group or crowd project trying to get anything done, you can quickly understand why the communal approach to governing is mostly idealistic horseshit. Is the Israeli Government based on the Kibbutz model? No, and for good reasons.

JFC, now this zealous SCOTUS wants to 2nd-guess health officials. Our bullshit constitution can't be repaired. Which is why I keep calling for radical disruption; a remedy far beyond what "progressives" bloviate about. But they call *me* a "centrist."

nytimes.com/2020/11/26/us/…
My moderateness applies to politics within our current paradigm of govt. If we're playing by those rules, then incrementalism is rational. But I feel we should be rejecting that paradigm. We should be demanding massive reforms; openly and forcefully, while we still can.
Despite all the bullshit about freedom, liberty, and the other trappings that conservatives pretend led to America's founding, the fact is, our revolution was about trade and money. Period. We have more and better reasons to rebel now than we ever did then.

Go back and look at Rod Serling’s Twilight Zones of 60 years ago. While they seem quaint and dated in look and style to us today, they at least resemble our lives without all the digital devices. But imagine if people in 1960 could have watched videos from 1900, …
how radically different everything would be. If you remove biomedicine and industrial breakthroughs, the pace of radical change and innovation, as it appears in our daily lives, has slowed dramatically. An electric car is relatively new to us. But cars are not. …
We’re still flying on jet airliners built 55 years ago. In 1905, horse drawn conveyance was still the most common mode of transportation.

Consider that our political systems are changing even more slowly. The pace of change has been glacial.

I blame the selfish …

All those historians and sociologists who figured they had Nazi Germany pegged as an aberration? The rise of a global alt-right should be forcing some rethink. In all of us. Trump is distracting us from an even bigger problem he's triggered.
What may now be just angry assholes, can all too easily infect entire nations and their armies. It's nearly been happening here. Another 4 years of Trump and I fear it well happen. Either way, the world is a very dangerous place again. And once again, due the fucking RIGHT.
A Third World War once seemed unthinkable. But leave the right alone long enough and they always forge new monsters threatening the rest of humanity. We knock them down, but we never knock them out.

After registering for a drive-thru test, which took 10 minutes longer than it should have because they could have had me filling out this data online, but make me use an app on site instead, after requiring a qr code that not all app cameras support, they then tell me later in
In the line that they need to Q code again which of course has already been closed. Then they asked me if I've had anything to eat or drink in the last 20 minutes. Yes I had some coffee waiting on your fucking line
So now I have to wait 20 minutes on the sidelines to let the coffee pass before I can get tested. Oh and their app doesn't support periods in email. I haven't seen an app do that in 10 years. I am so sick of lameness of everything in America

The American left celebrates the most weak-kneed journalism, simply because it's slightly better than the previous daily drivel. We never push anyone to do more. We never pressure networks to do more. We just whine a lot. We deserve this shit. I am sorry, but we do.
The right hated how conservatives were being portrayed, so they began a 45 year project to portray the media as liberal, so all the illiberal things they do would be fenced off and ignored. Now they own so much press, only a random book or idea ever wiggles thru the fence.
The Left watched them do this for 5 decades, mounting only niche responses to it. Even now, there is not 1 large, well-funded project that takes on the right's disinformation like the @ACLU took on free speech. WITH HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF $s. Not the chump-change we spend now.

I have never met anyone that voted for Trump that I have any respect for, and never will. Anyone that watched that freak show in 2015, and still voted for that monster has no excuse and deserves no grace. I don't even want to hear their contrived attempts to justify it. Ever.
And "thank them" for it? I'd rather poke my own eye out with a fork.
But lot's of skin-deep liberals think it's virtuous to gush over their "courage" to change their mind. It really just gives them an opportunity to tweet some platitudinous drivel about "finding your path," or whatever. Not to sound like @gus802, but fuck that noise.
