PMGSY recently released ~7,70,000 geo-tagged rural facilities data on it's portal. This map shows the density across India colored by category type (Agro, Education, Medical, Transport/Admin).
'Glow' signifies concentration. Read the thread for details. Caveats below. 1/n
Of these, ~153,100 are Agro 🌾 facilities (includes cold storages, collection centres, mandis, warehouse etc)
Kerala, Southern Karnataka, Costal Andhra have quite a concentration compared to rest of the country. 2/n
~170,500 are Education 🏫 facilities (includes high schools, college, iti, etc)
Of the surveyed facilities in UP, 26% are education related. 3/n
And, there are about ~88,600 Medical-related and 358,700 admin/transport related facilities. 4/n
This is probably the largest open indian geo-tagged dataset I've seen!? It's mostly great!?
- Data is not available for Goa and 6 union territories.
- Also, Also, 61% of Himachal Pradesh, 27% Uttarakhand, 4.8% Nagaland facilities have errors in geo-coordinates data

Data from few states is getting updated. So use updated versions OR refer to original source omms.nic.in periodically.
I plan to update these monthly till the dataset stabilizes.
