2021 will be a huge year for the social layer of Ethereum.
Let's take a look at projects leveraging social capital for viral status games 🔽
Last year, @2100hq caught wind with its Twitter staking alpha.
Users would stake to different accounts to earn social tokens. The more you earned, the more encoded content you unlocked. Those with the most influence placed higher on the leaderboard.
The trend of Twitter influence continues with @hivedotone - assigning ‘scores’ to users based on their engagement in communities like ‘Ethereum’ and ‘Bitcoin’
“The larger share of attention you receive, the more influential you are.”
And what would the social layer be without talking about social tokens?
I’ve been quite outspoken about my optimism for the sector, and my recent conversions tell me this is only going to get 100x bigger in the coming year.
Since that article, projects like @unite_cmty@dfame_app and @mycodotspace continue to innovate, creating new ways to distribute, coordinate and unlock value through token-permissioned campaigns and experiences.
Best of all, there’s now a place to keep track of it all.
@forefront__ is quickly turning into the leading social layer aggregator, tracking all creators, drops and resources to keep you in the loop on the growing sector.
- Social shows there’s value in crypto beyond speculation
- Onchain identity is becoming more robust by the day
- Tokens can be more than an investment
If DeFi is creating the future of finance, SoFi is creating the future of social.
There are plenty of other projects in the social sector I’m keeping an eye on.
What else is worth noting?
Tag a project below and give a TLDR on what makes it compelling!
I'll start - @rabbithole_gg is gearing up for a monstrous rollout in 2021.
Looking to train users on how to use the best aspects of your product or service?
Create a Rabbithole campaign to reward those who complete specific onchain actions.

@monetsupply and I put forth a plan to continue liquidity rewards with reduced incentives 🦄
This would change the monthly allocation from 10M $UNI to 5M $UNI, split across the same four pools. gov.uniswap.org/t/discussion-u…
The goal of this proposal is to 'maintain the status quo', using reduced incentives as a means to continue distribution as we look to optimize allocations in the medium term.
This comes with a soft signal @SnapshotLabs vote to gauge community sentiment on continuing rewards.
Should the Temperature Check pass with minimum of 25,000 UNI, a second Consensus vote will be posted to finalize the details of the proposal. snapshot.page/#/uniswap/prop…
