It's notable that the killing of Fakhrizadeh took place right around the time that Trump pardoned his ex NSA and staunch Muslim hater, Michael Flynn, who was arrested for lying about backchannel diplomacy before Trump took office in 2017. Could this be a trap for Biden?

As we learned from the Ukraine episode, Trump absolutely loves foreign policy skullduggery and Netanyahu is basically the only foreign leader besides Putin who likes Trump. Killing Fakhrizadeh helps both Netanyahu and Trump for 2024.
We'll see how things shake out, but my surmise is that the GOP is trying to lay Logan Act traps for incoming Biden administration foreign policy officials on Iran with Fakhrizadeh and likely some other yet-to-be-known areas, just like Mnuchin and the stimulus $
In the event that the Senate GOP ramps up Logan Act investigations of Biden people, he may decide to pardon staffers which would serve as a useful bludgeon to defend the outrageous Trump pardons which are yet to come.
Trump isn't a strategic enough thinker to move this many steps ahead but Netanyahu is often referred to in Israel as "Trump with a brain."
