If farmers must be respected, because they put food in the plate then why not the construction worker, who built the home that you live in?

Let's demand State subsidies and freebies for construction workers, paid by us taxpayers, just like we do for the farmers.
Farmers are like any other producers and businessmen, they must be respected just like any other producer.

Today, Dubai gets much better food in its plates than Bathinda, even as UAE has no farmers.

Building food supply chain is most critical.
Today, farmers in India are not producing what the market (that is we the consumers) needs, but they produce wheat, rice and sugarcane, far more than what we need and it ends up rotting in the FCI godowns.

This must stop.
This addiction in Punjab of growing rice in arid Malwa region has not only depleted, but poisoned the underground water turning it into the cancer belt.

Poor, including farmers must be supported (UBI?), but Agri supply chain is best left to the market. MSP must end.
I am not saying we must not revere or support the farmers, but the 'AnnaDaata' mindset is from the 60s of food shortages.

We are never going to go back to that era.

We must free the agriculture like we have done with other industries and supply chains.
And lastly, let's not mixup poverty with farmers.

All poor must get Income support (UBI), not just farmers.

Rich farmers must pay Income Tax like all of us do.

Agriculture as an employment intensive Industry must get State support like other sectors like Textiles do.

In the times of the food scarcity of 1960, the monoculture of wheat and paddy made sense.

Today, the MSP system has led to a situation where wheat and paddy is being grown to rot, not only at great cost to us taxpayers, but also to our environment and to farmers.
Left to market forces, there is a natural feedback; if consumer demand for millet grows, the prices increase, sending a feedback to grow more of it in the next cycle, a glut in a commodity will send the price crashing and will be grown less in the next cycle.
Over a period of time, the market will ensure that the producers are producing as per the consumer demand.

The MSP systems cuts-off this feedback and has converted Punjab into a monoculture and a cancer belt.

This is not Bangladesh or Pakistan, this is India.

Unprovoked lathicharge and firing over a Durga immersion procession in Munger.

Several dead from Police bullets.
SP Lipi Singh ordered firing on the Durga procession.
Sequence of events in #Munger, pieced together from widely circulated amateur videos indicates deep seated contempt & hatred for Hindus within the Police leadership.

While Police is currently functioning under Election Comm, does it have the immunity for its criminal actions?

One reason India did not do well for so long after independence was that it had false heros.
Gandhi held sway on Congress and could hold it to ransom at will. On the treat of fast unto death.

He used that power to the hilt for not letting democratically elected leaders like Bose or Patel preside.
Some of Gandhi's ideas liking shunning modernity (he denied penicillin to his wife and let her die), his opposition to urbanisation (village was his ideal) would caste a long shadow on the policies that independent India adopted.

I didnt see anyone justifying any rapes. Only some amusement being expressed as to how some heinous crimes become national headlines, while others are ignored.

What is the criteria that the Media establishment applies? Why is the conscience of the establishment for sale?
A crime is a crime is a crime. We should ask for strict law enforcement, swift investigation, meticulous prosecution and speedy Justice in every case.

But who is interested in all this, when playing politics over the dead bodies is the only objective.
Exposing such blatant and cynical politics over deadbodies is not the same as justifying rapes.

This deliberate misinformation is shameful!

Are FCI, Govt Procurement system, the Mandis being dismantled? No, none of that, only their monopoly is being dismantled.

Farmers will continue to have all the options they had, plus more.
Let's not infantalise the farmers. This age of every farmer having a mobile with internet, we need full freedom for our farmers.
PM himself confirms that no choice is being taken away from the farmers, only new choices and new opportunities ae being opened up.

More the merry.

Why India's farm productivity (crop yield per acre) one third of countries like Netherlands, and lower than even Bangladesh?

Why Indian farmers' crop choices limited to few crops like wheat & sugarcane?
How is that countries like Singapore, Arabia etc that don't grow much food manage stable consumer prices, with no ECA?
Why have we confused farmers' welfare with stifling control on agriculture and agri-supply chain?
