This week: HOMESNAP WILL DOOM US ALL!!

Chill, people.

Listen, I don’t know where this @TheCoStarGroup deal is going, but neither do the people breathlessly speculating about it.

I do know that it’s my job, and the job of some really smart and dedicated BPP board members, to protect fair industry practices.

Which we’ll do.

So relax. The deal was announced six days ago, and for three of those days we’ve all been eating stuffing.

So not a lot of time to puzzle through he implications of a $250M deal.

Let’s give it a few days before declaring Armageddon.

What I do know is that Homesnap’s success comes from its relationships with MLSs across the country.

I don’t see the value of buying Homesnap to poison those relationships.

And even if they wanted to, I don’t see how Homesnap COULD do that under their BPP and MLS contracts.

Maybe I just don’t see it yet. That’s possible. I’ve been busy eating all the stuffing.

But if I think this is a bad deal for the industry, I will say so.

So will the board members at BPP.

We have no ownership of Homesnap, no financial interest in the acquisition.

The BPP is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering the industry of MLSs, brokers, and agents to provide better experiences for consumers.

That’s it. That’s our job.
