Today we're shipping the first public release of Radicle — a peer-to-peer stack for building software together.

1/ We believe that our dependence on centralized platforms and corporations for the production and distribution of free & open-source software is inherently unsustainable.

To truly build an open internet free from corporate and state control we *need* resilient infrastructure.

2/ Radicle is a new kind of code collab network built on Git. It's:

🤝 Peer-to-peer — no central servers, no censorship
💻 Local-first — everything's stored on your machine
🔐 Secure by design — no accounts, just crypto 🔑
💕 For the collective — a fresh take on sustainability

3/ This release is the first step towards decentralized code collaboration — a fully functioning peer-to-peer network for sharing, hosting, and collaborating on code.

Along with it comes an open-source desktop client we call Radicle Upstream.

🔐 Create a Radicle identity
💻 Host repositories peer-to-peer
💌 Share and follow projects
👾 Push commits, fetch & merge patches, fork projects

5/ You can find projects to track and see what's happening on the network by checking out seedling.radicle.xyz — the dashboard for the first Radicle seed node 🌱

6/ While this is a huge milestone, please note that this software is still in beta. Here are some asks for our community:
