🧵We start today's Arizona COVID Update by supporting newly widowed @luvmy4ros from Mesa, AZ. Her husband of 21 years, Rogelio Lechuga, 44, died from COVID.
He is 1 of 6,687 Arizonans killed by COVID due to the inaction of @dougducey 1/18
"We took all the precautions at home...Then he returned to the office. It took 2 weeks..He got COVID trying to provide for his family and instead left his wife and 3 kids behind. Now we are picking up the pieces." 2/18
48 Arizonans received a phone call yesterday that their loved one died from COVID. 3/18
11,144 new cases of COVID in Arizona over the past 2 days, because @dougducey fails to mandate masks & close non-essential businesses.
500 soccer teams, 460 from out of state, participated in the Desert Cup Soccer Tournament over the holidays in Phoenix. @MayorGallego 4/18
This is Oatman Arizona located in Mohave County, which has increased cases per week, as expected when there is no mask mandate and indoor dining is open. h/t:@kdurquiza 5/18
In Yuma, Arizona it was a DEADLY Thanksgiving for members of my community. 14 people died over the holidays. 752 new infections. 109 people hospitalized for COVID and the ICU is full. Yet everything is open! 6/18
Despite, AZDHS saying there are 189 beds in Arizona. ER doctors across the state are still having difficulty FINDING ICU beds amid nursing staff shortages. ICU patients are boarding in ERs for 8-12 hours. Tragically, 48 more Arizonans died, opening 48 ICU beds. 7/18
Over the past 5 days, 516 people in Arizona were placed on a ventilator because they couldn't breathe. Many will die on the ventilator. This video captures the face of COVID. 43 y.o. Sara Montoya from El Paso TX before she was intubated and died. 8/18
Those lucky to survive intubation from COVID will have ever lasting complications, such as PTSD, vocal cord damage, lung damage etc. John Place from Florida was infected by his son, "Wear your mask, stay your distance, it's real!" 9/18
John Place was infected with COVID by his 21 year-old son. His wife pleaded with her son not to go out because she was concerned about the family getting sick. 10/18 nbcnews.com/news/us-news/d…
We are in a crisis and this is unsustainable. Intubations are rising! ICU beds are scarce. 11/18
Behind the scenes doctors are coming to help us on the frontlines like Dr. Salles! @arghavan_salles 12/18
Since @dougducey fails to lead, local leaders are tasked with mitigating spread and taking the heat for it as well! In Tucson, Mayor @TucsonRomero is consider instituting a curfew effective 8pm – 5am starting today, December 1st through Dec 22nd 13/18
This is my 3rd surge. I'm fatigued. Across Arizona, healthcare workers are seeing an unprecedented amount of death, while at the same time running out of PPE and getting sick. Meanwhile, restaurants are packed with patrons. @dougducey 14/18
Covid Combat Fatigue: ‘I Would Come Home With Tears in My Eyes’
Doctors and nurses on the front lines are running on empty, under increasing duress as the pandemic surges and hospitals are overrun with patients. 15/18 nytimes.com/2020/11/25/hea…
A nationwide healthcare worker strike is nearing. 2,000 have died from COVID! In New York, nurses at both @AlbanyMed and @MontefioreNYC are striking for PPE and safe working conditions today.
“How do you go from being a hero to a zero overnight? @nynurses@CTZebra 16/18
In Illinois, Infinity Nursing Homes have among the highest cases of COVID. 1,117 cases and 160 deaths. They received $12.7 million from the Federal Cares Act. 700 HCWs are striking for PPE and a starting wage of $15/hr. @SEIUhciimk@CTZebra 17/18
This is my 27 y.o. cousin Simon Press. His mom is having a VERY DIFFICULT time during the holidays, as are 270,000 Americans. "It's so hard not having Simon here, especially during the holidays, sometimes I don't even get out of bed"💔 /end

.@dougducey is UNFIT to lead Arizona through this pandemic. He's failed to protect healthcare workers. He's failed to protect 6,687 Arizonans. He wants to live while we DIE from the virus. It's time to #RecallDougDuceyaccountablearizona.org
A deadly pandemic is not the time to bullshit and play politics, but that's exactly what @dougducey is doing. While doctors are intubating 100 Arizonans a day from COVID to die on a ventilator, he's sitting on his ass and letting more people get infected.
The second surge is worse than the first surge, because due to lack of restrictions we're seeing a high volume of high acuity non-covid patients, which require ICU beds, in addition to sick COVID patients.
Rural Hospitals across America are overwhelmed by COVID19. It's MUCH WORSE than you think, because doctors are scared to speak out due to fear of getting fired by hospital administrators. This is from a doctor at a rural hospital in Pennsylvania. 1/4
I served 6 years as a @USNavy Fleet Marine Force Corpsman & deployed to Iraq in 2004. We've spent 10 months fighting COVID, but we're losing this war. Our troops are exhausted. It's time for military deployment to our hospitals to RELIEVE our healthcare workers battling COVID19🇺🇸
We have ample healthcare staff in the military who are EXPERTS in humanitarian crises, which is exactly what this uncontrolled pandemic is in the United States! #ActivateTheTroops@realDonaldTrump@GOP
Here is one suggestion! Captain Patrick Amersbach is the commanding officer of the military treatment facility aboard the USNS Comfort, which was deployed to NYC during the height of the pandemic. We served together in Iraq with Alpha Surgical Co. 1st Med Battalion.
🧵On my last ER shift, there were NO accepting hospitals for my ICU patients. Across Arizona, ⬆️HCW illness, ⬆️nursing ratios & ⬇️PPE. We need HELP!! This is not "living with the virus" it's dying from the virus. We need a shutdown @dougducey azcentral.com/story/news/loc…
Healthcare workers did not sign up to work during an endless pandemic with ZERO help from state and federal governments. These healthcare workers gave their lives to treat patients with COVID in Arizona. Their families should all receive $500,000 death benefits. @dougducey
Rolando Clemente, Jr., 41, ER RN, Banner Desert Hospital, Phoenix, AZ died from COVID. He was gracious, welcoming, fun, and happy -while sick he was concerned for the safety of his colleagues nursing him
