I appreciate the clarity and force of this man's words so much. We have been living under a culture of threat for so long and it is rare when any public official stands strongly against it. So heart-breakingly rare.
It is easier to deal with a predictable threat from a mafia state that advertises its cruel intentions. It is harder to cope with the collective abandonment by those whose job it is to protect the American people. Their utter apathy to constant threats of violence, and to trauma.
My complaint is non-partisan. Nearly all officials failed the American people. Yes, there are different levels of failure and different motives. But at a certain point, negligence becomes malice. And complacency becomes complicity.

You know what would actually unite this country? An end to elite criminal impunity.

I'm serious. This is a unifying issue. (Except for, of course, the criminal elites.)
We're not only seeing the same crimes, we're seeing the *exact same criminals and enablers* getting away with them again and again due to our failed and corrupt institutions. That's the topic of HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT:

Elite criminal impunity is truly a non-partisan crisis. No one wanted to see child rape traffickers Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell roam free; or the mass murdering Sackler family get a slap on the wrist. People want to be protected from their crimes. And we want the truth.
