Dear Stephen @stephensackur context to some of the questions you put to @MIshaqDar50
You were asking him to go face the courts after he had attended over 90 vindictive hearings

Pakistan judge ‘confesses he was blackmailed to convict Nawaz Sharif’ thestatesman.com/world/pak-judg…
of a case that was decided in his favour twice already and time barred. The second time it was thrown out by the High Court. You were asking him to face not double but triple jeopardy intended only to persecute him.
. @stephensackur You do understand that Pakistanis are living in a surreal banana republic, right? The reality of the NAB that imprisons first and questions later is this:
dawn.com/news/1570266
I’m sure you are familiar with Pakistan’s history: we have had our Prime Ministers and other representatives sent to the gallows, tortured, shot to death, and exiled by the Pakistan Army. The British press & govt should not act as if it doesn’t know. @MIshaqDar50
By acting thus, you strengthen the dictators and dictatorship.
I’m amazed that the whole world knows but the British media is unaware that the case against @MIshaqDar50 is decades old one of ridiculous trumped up charges, that the military brings out of the cobwebbed cupboard, dusts it and starts all over again. Fuck time, fuck triple
jeopardy, fuck evidence, fuck all principles of justice, fuck due process that the British hold dear, but @MIshaqDar50 should submit to persecution because the Pakistani military wants to keep the field clear for its puppet Imran Khan?
. @stephensackur Are you familiar with the number of actual deaths the NAB has caused? Here is just one famous case. Ask @gabeeno

nayadaur.tv/amp/2019/04/as…
. @stephensackur Does the U.K. deport people to places where they face death for their political conscience? No. Then why is British media asking @MIshaqDar50 to go to Pakistan to face “justice”?
. @stephensackur are you aware of Pakistan’s human rights record? What the military and its puppets get up to with impunity? Here is just one specific piece from the former chair of @HRCP87 on the human rights violations of NAB
dawn.com/news/1585155 NAB v human rights
. @stephensackur I’m sure you are also aware the Pakistani military abducted me - the FCO certainly does. You were asking @MIshaqDar50 to go face a trial the same military is running?

bbc.com/news/amp/world…
Here is @washingtonpost on how and why people are arrested in Pakistan. This one is about the incarceration of the proprietor of the largest news & media group @stephensackur
This “government” is running cases on everyone who is opposed to hybrid regime.
washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/…
Take a look at what the @GdnPolitics reported on what the current junta is doing to us. We are living under martial law plus. And the British press is acting as if there is democracy and free conscience in Pakistan and asking people why
theguardian.com/world/2019/nov…
they are not going back home. Honestly, I find that shameful. The press here is humiliating people in exile. That is shameful.
I am sorry I had to say all this to @stephensackur but it had to be said. The British press should not ignore political climates of foreign countries.
*time barred
And as a reminder of how courts work in Pakistan, please read this too @stephensackur

An 11 minute audio message of Ahsanullah Ahsan, former spokesperson of TTP. Mainly the story of his escape, but the last minute is chilling. According to him, the deal breaker was his refusal to head a death squad that would target “anti-state ghaddars”, with offices in 1/n
Peshawer, Mardan, and Quetta. The target list consisted mainly of Pashtuns, from all walks of life.
