An ill informed counter narrative is being spread around against the farmers’ protests & it's about time air must be cleared about this. The farmers of the country have many legit concerns about the farm laws & the central govt needs to take the grievances into consideration(1/8)
Why did the govt deliberately choose to miss out on the mention of MSP in both ordinances? The minimum support price is a guarantee to the farmers from govt reassuring them of a good price for their crops. Take that away and you open the doors for financial exploitation. (2/8)
For whose benefit have these farm laws been made? The farmers of India have always been free to sell their produce anywhere in the country, be it to govt or private businesses. With potential scraping of MSP these laws will hand the reins to the corporates.(3/8)
The abolishment of Agricultural Produce Market Committee in Bihar in 2006, opened the doors for middle men to exploit the local farmers. Due to lack of procurement process, the middlemen purchased from farmers at lower prices and sold at higher MSP in other states. (4/8)
Why wouldn't be an independent farmer concerned about contract farming? This exposes the small and marginal farmers to the risk of disadvantageous contracts made for the benefit of BJP's corporate friends. (5/8)
86% of the farmers in India have less land than 2 hectares. They are worried about being unable to negotiate with corporate sharks and fall prey to selling on a loss rather than what's presently govt sanctioned profitable MSP. (6/8)
The bill looks like all perspective has been applied to extract benefits for corporates rather than farmers. The mechanism of price deduction hasn't been specified which raises concerns that if free hand given to private corporate houses it could lead to farmer exploitation.(7/8)
Adding to the misery, the apathy & cruel response from centre instead of calmly addressing the concerns have lead to this conundrum that whether BJP ever wanted the benefit of farmers or just another scheme to make profit reach the pockets of its crony capitalist friends.(8/8)
