Times and Seasons

Eccl 3:1
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven"...

If you have a proper understanding of this Scripture, life will be a lot easier.
Everything and I mean everything has a season. God operates with timing even though He's not affected or limited by it.

If you experience some serious growth or affluence at a point in your life, be sensitive. For instance, if you have a windfall, don't do "lau lau".
You may be in your season. Maximize it. Take advantage of it. Dig your well in that season. Leverage on the opportunities that come your way then. Many waste their season by squandering the opportunities that come their way. Some don't even recognize when they're in their season.
Seasons come and seasons go. That is why no king will reign forever. No Forbes list is ever permanent. That person's season will come and go. But what you do during your season will determine whether your reign will be short-lived or long.
It is important for you to not only understand the times and seasons but also know what to do. 1 Chr 12:32- "And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do"...
This is also applicable in relationships. Everything comes down to times and seasons. During the rainy season, no one needs to pray because it rains freely. That is when one is young and there are offers everywhere.
Unfortunately, the rainy season can be taken for granted but it won't last forever. When dry season comes, anything that looks like rain is welcome development. If you operate out of season, life is hard.
This is when you have to trust God for a miracle- because it is divine providence if it rains in the dry season. If you operate within your season, you'll look like a man under grace. Key is to maximize seasons.
But the good news is God can also change the times and seasons. According to Daniel 2:21, " He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding".
If you don't like your season, you can trust the Maker of times and seasons to change it.
To recap, here are the 4 things you should note:

1. Everything and everyone has their season.

2. Seasons come and seasons go. We will all have different seasons in our lives. No one experiences summer throughout. There are winter times.
3. To enjoy life to the fullest, it's good to understand your season and also know what to do when you're in your season.

4. If you don't like the season you're experiencing, the Maker of seasons can change it.

Selah

Travelogue: Another Day With The Ooni of Ife, Opa Oranmiyan & The House With The Lake

Never have I seen so much love for a traditional ruler in my life. Never!
As His Imperial Majesty alighted from his vehicle and entered the Royal Hall within the expansive palace grounds called 'Ile Oodua', the crowd surged after him. They struggled as some squeezed themselves between the doors so they could get closer to the Ooni, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi
It was something similar to people surging after a popular TV evangelist at an open-air crusade. The only difference was that they didn't touch him. They couldn't dare. He walked with such imperial majesty.

10 Years Ago: He Kept Me

On this day, exactly 10 years ago (Dec 6, 2010), I ran into armed robbers around 6am on my way to work. My sister-in-law was seated in the car at the back. It was around Customs Road at Yaba.
When we saw the robbers, it was almost too late to escape. There was confusion as cars ran into one another in the ensuing melee. My vehicle had been bashed front, back and the passenger’s side as we all struggled to get away from the scene.
I saw a robber approach me with his gun held directly in front of him. I opened the door, jumped out and ran. It was the race of my life under a hail of bullets. I tried to run zig zag and the Lord was merciful to me that no car ran into me or killed me.

Travelogue: The Day I Climbed Olumo Rock & Met Ibikunle Amosun

My heart was in my mouth when I climbed some portion and looked down. I saw houses looking like tiny images. I felt dizzy and said a prayer by heart. I rebuked the devil as I imagined all kinds of things.
At a point, I actually wondered aloud if I was forced to climb the rock. My hands were wet and clammy while my heart was pounding. Going back was not an option for me.
Many times, we helped each other- all the hundred of us except for a few who chose to go through the easier alternative route. At times, others who climbed and had ascended the summit encouraged others. I was one of the very last people to ascend the peak of the mountain.

Open Letter To Engineer Seyi Makinde : Preserving Our History, Rewriting Our Story

Your Excellency,

The circumstances surrounding your election show that there is a purpose why providence cast the mantle of leadership of Oyo State on you.
I believe you have an assignment that goes beyond basic governance. You are going to occupy Agodi Government House that has served as residence to leaders of the former Western Region and later Oyo State such as the late sage Obafemi Awolowo, Ladoke Akintola, Bola Ige and others
Ibadan is the political headquarters of the South West and it has pleased Divinity to put you as a custodian of the place. Ibadan has always been pivotal in providing direction for the Yoruba nation.

Conversations With A Genius: A Day With His Excellency, Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo (1)

The initial meeting was very brief as Mrs Xtiana Ojo and I saw him off to his vehicle after the Afenifere Oyo meeting last week.
He told us he was just recovering from an illness and that he was robbed. I was alarmed. Are we so godless that we now rob octogenarians? As he sat in his vehicle that afternoon, he extended an invitation for us to visit him the following Saturday at 10am.
So last Saturday, through the assistance of Mrs Ojo, I honored the appointment. Coming into the very modest Oke-Ado living room of Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo, I opened my mouth as I saw rows of books. There were books everywhere- on the shelves, table and even on the floor.

Travelogue: Owerri, Umuahia and Ojukwu's Bunker

The Air Peace flight was very punctual. In fact, I almost missed the flight because I went to MMA2 initially instead of the 'Old Local' airport.
I had to beg the Air Peace staff at the counter before I was issued my boarding pass and I had to run before I eventually got on the flight that was so full without any empty seat. How I wish all airlines in Nigeria are like Air Peace!
The drive from Sam Mbakwe Airport at Owerri to Umuahia took a little over one hour. It was my first time in Owerri and though I didn't go through Owerri township, the environment looked a bit rustic much unlike Enugu and Awka that I've also been to recently.
