The old farm laws ..the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) laws...came into existence almost 150 years ago to feed the colonial masters raw cotton for their Manchester mills.
The output of these mills was then sold to the “natives” for a hefty profit. The farmer was obligated, required, forced to sell to the masters in a regulated market whose regulation was set by, you guessed it, the colonial masters.
It is very likely that the people blindly supporting the “poor” farmers (who were recently seen distributing expensive dry fruit freely to all those coming to their “protest”) are unaware of some simple facts.

"Under the milk revolution, which gathered huge momentum under the Modi govt, milk production in India today is 50% higher than that in the US and almost 300% higher than that in China. Milk has never been a part of the MSP, so that should tell a lot about the relevance of MSP"
"The total value of all agricultural output was around Rs 40 lakh crore in FY20, while the total value of MSP operations was around Rs 2.5 lakh crore, corroborating the argument by Shanta Kumar, that only 6.25% of the agri produce is MSP-driven"
"The hard reality is that MSP matters only to a small number of farmers in states like Haryana and Punjab."

When the 701km Sanruddhi expressway project between Mumbai and Nagpur was initiated in 2016-17, largescale protests broke out. 1000s of farmers objected to the Iand acquisition

“Samruddhi Murdabad” became a battle cry for the protesters.😆😆😆😆
However, when the government amended its land acquisition policy by dangling a humungous carrot —five times the market value of the land—the agitation dissipated.
Dnyaneshwar Digambar Kolte of Tuljapur village in Aurangabad district recalls that, at 5.58pm on March 12, 2018, he received SMS showing money deposited into his father’s bank account.

Income-Tax payers don't want a "thank you " paragraph in Budget Speech. We want that bullies who blockade cities not be appeasedby Central Government. We don't want our hard-earned money which we pay as taxes to enrich farmers of one state at the expense of farmers of other states
We don't want our tax money to fund purchases of grains at artificially high MSP. We don't want to fund depeletion of water and desertification of Punjab. We don't want to fund an MSP where Punjab farmer drives around in German cars while farmers in other states languish.
You cannot fund "Malai Saare Punjabko" scheme by taxing people nation-wide.

Wind up MSP and triple the PM-KISAN payouts to Rs 18000 so as to benefit farmers of all states including Punjab.

Punjab farmers are making a fool of themselves by protesting against enabling provisions which do not cast any obligations on them.

An option to sell outside APMC given. Don't like it? Don't avail it. Sell in APMC through middlemen who are like family.
An option to enter into contract farming agreement given. Don't want it? Don't do it. Tell Ambani or Adani to get lost. No one is forcing you to enter into Contract farming agreements.
Question of consulting you before passing any law arises only if it casts obligations on you. The three farm laws give you options. They are enabling provisions. They give you options. Don't like the laws? Ignore. Don't avail those options.Simple.

Govt Proposal 1 to farmers: Transitional arrangements till State governments create registry for contract farming agreements
(No problems with these) Image
Govt Proposal 2 to farmers: Dispute resolution provisions..option to approach civil courts
(No problem with this also. If farmers don't find conciliation by SDM trustworthy, let them go to court) Image
Govt Proposal to farmers 3: Stubble burning Ordinance (of course this Punjab specific. I support them in this. They have very valid grievance. Repeal Ordinance. Stop blaming farmers for Delhi air pollution) Image
