I started fact checking a few things in Cori Bush's past and ended up writing 2 max-length threads. Enjoy!

πŸ‘‡Cori Bush Deep Dive Part 1πŸ‘‡

(p1 is her background. p2 is campaign related)
Cori Bush's background eerily parallels AOC's.

And neither of them stand up to scrutiny.

I probably could have learned more about Cori as a person from "Knock Down The House" but you'd have to pry my eyes open like A Clockwork Orange to get me to watch it. ImageImageImage
We already know AOC "A girl from the Bronx" actually moved to Westchester County at age 5 & her family owned their house in Yorktown Heights...as well as 1.5 condos in the Bronx, one of which was her campaign address.

Nothing wrong w/that life but SHE told us a different story. ImageImage
Cori talks about her history in *very similar ways*.

Her 'lived experience' is what qualified her to be a better Representative than Lacy Clay in her eyes:

🌳Lived in poverty
🌳Experienced homelessness
🌳"I am the people I serve"
🌳Ferguson is her Bronx
🌳Ordained pastor
🌳RN ImageImageImageImage
Her family seemed to be doing all right while she was growing up.
Her dad was in politics (more on that later) and a meat cutter (must have been before she was born).

Her mom was a "computer analyst" but I can't find any other details on her mom. Image
Cori always attended private schools.

K-8: Parochial schools

High school 1: An anonymous private girls school "in the good ZIP code in North County".

High school 2: Cardinal Ritter College Prep Catholic HS

Nothing wrong with that but it doesn't jibe with her qualifications ImageImageImage
I don't want anyone to think I'm knocking her high school at all.

It looks like a fantastic school in a predominantly Black part of St Louis.

But Cori's school had a 100% graduation rate...
While St Louis public schools had a 60% graduation rate. ImageImage
She also has weird AOC-like anecdotes

Like how Anon Private School offered her a scholarship...THEN she took their entrance exam & they said she cheated bc she got the highest score out of all 300 girls WHILE BEING BLACK.

Oh & later they sprayed whipped cream on her papers. wut Image
The fact that she didn't attend St Louis public schools becomes pretty apparent when you look at her policy priorities.

Like Bernie's, they are focused on higher education not K-12.
That MATTERS when huge swaths of her district are still struggling to get their kids to graduate. ImageImage
Lacy Clay was a public school grad despite being a "political establishment dynasty".

But Cory is no political outsider herself.

Her dad has been Alderman or Mayor since she was 8. Image
She went straight from graduating high school in 1994 to studying general studies at Harris-Stowe State University.

The order of events of her life in between HSSU and getting her graduate RN are pretty murky.

So most dates from 1996 to ~2005 are kind of vague. ImageImage
Between 1996 & 2015 Corey claims she:
β–ͺ️had an internet radio show called ground.ed
β–ͺ️worked as a nurse
β–ͺ️directed the Truth Telling Project
β–ͺ️founded Kingdom Embassy Int'l Church
β–ͺ️became ordained
β–ͺ️became an activist w/Ferguson Frontline
β–ͺ️received Emmett Till award

cont'd... ImageImageImage
...cont'd

β–ͺ️was Non-violence 365 Ambassador w/the King Center
β–ͺ️was Civics Chairperson for Better Family Life Inc's Membership Assn
β–ͺ️ was on Ferguson Women's Caucus
β–ͺ️organized w/Michael Brown Sr Chosen For Change Foundation
β–ͺ️formed Southern Christian Leadership Conference ImageImage
That list gave me REAL vibes of AOC's resume (which was full of massively inflated nonsense like Brook Ave Press which never did anything and she never paid its taxes).

I'm going to spot check a few of Cori's resume entries & see how her work history holds up to fact checking! ImageImageImage
Uh oh, where's the other half of the thread?!
Pastor Cori claims to have founded Kingdom Int'l Church in 2011.

I can't find ANY legal record of her church..literally nothing.

I hit a wall trying to figure this out. I'm not convinced this church ever existed at all.

Is she really a pastor? That's a big claim w/no evidence. Image
I also can't find any PRIMARY source of Cori being awarded the Emmett Till Foundation award. Everything that referenced it either comes from her or no source.

That does NOT mean she didn't receive it, I just can't verify it from a source that doesn't trace back to her. ImageImage
Frontline Ferguson was a protest group that got pretty...not peaceful.

If I had to SPECULATE I would guess that this is where she crossed paths with whoever got her hooked up with the Justice Democrats.

These protests had a lot of outside interference

reuters.com/article/us-mis…
Between '99 & '18 Cori also had 11 run-ins with the civil courts. The details don't matter much here (they're all money related) but they do fill in a few more blanks.
Like in '99 she worked for a preschool because that's where her wages were garnished

courts.mo.gov/casenet/cases/… Image
The tax liens evidently caused her to lose her nursing license until she paid them (according to her website).

It seems plausible but I can't find the link politifact is referring to.

THEIR research for this article was taking her words at face value.

I didn't know before today that Cori ran for SENATE in 2016

She announced her Senate campaign on Dec 18th 2015.

Holy coincidence Batman!

You may remember that important date from this thread about her idol: Bernie Sanders

It's the day he sued the DNC!

Here is her old campaign website.
It turned out to be a treasure trove of missing puzzle pieces and links to her old deleted Facebook and Twitter accounts as well!

web.archive.org/web/2016021417…
Part 2 will cover her 3 campaigns and campaign finances but I just need to point out a few more things first.

Here's the About Cori section in 2016 vs 2020.

Comparing her Senate campaign to her House campaign, a few things (or lack thereof) really jump out at me. ImageImageImage
Prior to 2017 Cory doesn't reference being homeless...ever.
Obviously I don't know anything about her private life & she clearly had some money problems new.

She went from NEVER mentioning it to making it a cornerstone of her campaign.

Did Justice Dems tell her to do that? ImageImage
Why did Cori Bush and AOC end up sounding so similar? Their backgrounds and the way they used to describe their backgrounds both changed drastically once involved w/Justice Dems.

Why did they both make such a similar shift toward appearing much poorer than they were growing up? ImageImage
AOC wasn't from the Bronx or working 18H days in the service industry.

Cori has no evidence of being an ordained pastor...she went to private school..and she has loving parents who wanted her to live with them instead of living in her car.

Who revised AOC & Cori's backstories? ImageImage
Twitter broke it 😑 here's the rest of the thread.
I missed something!!

Cori apparently registered her church as a fictitious name in 2012.

Interesting... ImageImage
That's not a normal way to form a church, right?
Update 2: here's verification that she received the Emmett Till award. Image

When I wrote this thread on Nov 9, AOC had only filed campaign data through Oct 14. I've been checking back every day to see when the rest of her data became available

Today's the day! πŸ˜ƒ

This thread might not be as EXCITING as the last one but I want to look at her final #'s
UPDATE: When I wrote that thread on 11/9, the AP & NYBoE cited NY-14 as "100% reporting"

And nothing changed until 12/4!

The updatedπŸ‘‡vote totals for NY-14

πŸ‘‰AOC: 71.6%, 152k
πŸ‘‰Cummings: 27.4%, 58k

(I can assume that's going to be used to discredit EVERYTHING I've ever said)
The vote counts are a little higher but nothing else changed. It doesn't affect her finances.

AOC still got a smaller share of the vote than she did in 2018. But there WAS a higher voter turnout.

AOC Vote Share
2018: 78.2%
2020: 71.6%

AOC Vote Count
2018: 110,318
2020: 152,661

What do you hate most about the Justice Democrats?

What's your favorite fact about how sketchy they are?
Or Bernie.
Here's one of mine for Bernie:

I just learned that THIS πŸ‘‡ existed tonight

(Am I out of touch for a Millennial? No. It's the children who are wrong.)

I'm starting a thread of people incorrectly explaining to me what "dark money" means.

The correct answer is: it refers to spending by any organization that doesn't have to disclose its donors.

(Ex: 501(c)(4) nonprofits, 501(c)(5) unions, & some others, but NOT SuperPACs)

If you've never heard of the company 'Teletracking", you need to read this thread.

It's the company with America's Covid19 data and they're sharing it with Palantir.
I swear, every time I post this thread, Twitter's algorithm barely shows it to anyone.
This reply already has more views than the top tweet

I don't get it!
