Many projects under #ModiGovt r promoting cluster development where artisans can enhance their skils of art & digitalization.They r given opportunities & platforms to promote & revive their talent @minmsme & is also playing an imp role @blsanthosh@byadavbjp
1)Toys hv existed in India since Indus Valley Civilisation. Toys & games were children's entertained & also to teach how to develop their minds& understand what life had in store for them.Hon'ble @narendramodi wants our country to become a global toy hub & promote #vocalforlocal.
2)Thanjavur Golu Dolls
Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu is famous for its dancing bobble-headed dolls emerging under Maratha empire in Tanjore (now Thanjavur),Chola empire.2types—the Raja Rani bommai& the urutu bommai.These r worshipped in S India in Navratri or koluvu ( Dussehra ).
3)Laiphadibi
The Manipuri word for doll is Laiphadibi.2words: lai, means god &phadi means shabby cloth. Bi,is feminine gender.These dolls are used rituals.If a person dies on nongmapanba(1st of month as lunar calendar)or tatnaba(inauspicious days),two dolls are placed on grave.
4)Kondapalli Toys
Kondapalli toys are frm Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh. These are made of soft wood ,Tella Poniki frm hills of Kondapally, made frm a combination of different pieces which r glued using an adhesive of tamarind. Animals, birds, deities & the 10 incarnations of Vishnu.
5)Channapatna Toys
Channapatna in Karnataka is known as the ‘Land of Toys’.200-year-old art Tipu Sultan, made these toys globally popular.unique features of these toys is they are safe for children & infants as the colours used are made of non-toxic paints.
6)Asharikandi Terracotta Toys
FromAsharikandi near Dhubri in Assam.During monsoon season of Ashar, heavy rainfall causes flood.Potters face a lot of problems cannot make, dry up, burn & store thus frm the name of this rainy season -Ashar &shedding of tears of the potters -Kandi.
7)Puppets
Puppets were not only tools of skilled puppeteers, parents used to tell stories to their children. Children also used puppets to create their own stories spurred by their imagination. Gave them a way to convey their emotions by transferring it to an inanimate object.
8)Wooden toys of Varanasi
Craftsmen use wood of shisham, eucalyptus trees to carve out the toys according to required shape &size,hv no joints in them &are made frm natural vein of wood. Tools like lathe, chisel& hammers used to carve, surface is smoothened, coloured laqured.
9)Natungram Dolls
Wood&painted with bright colours, Natungram village in Burdwan, Kolkata, hv rustic artistry,started during15th-16th century risen to iconic pair of Gour-Nitai represent Sh Chaitanya Mahaprabhu& his disciple Nitai.Soldie, Radha Krishna,owl pairs of Maa laxmi.
10)Dolls of Vilachery
200 artisan families reside in Vilachery village,Tamil Nadu. At Navratri& Vinayaka Chaturthi they get busy making the clay& light weight paper-mâché dolls to celebrate.Though clay models are famous due to beliefs in an auspicious traditional practice.
11) Thigda dhingla
Cloth dhinglas & dhinglis (dolls) are made frm small pieces of waste fabrics called thigdas made by women from traditional Kutchi families living in the interiors of Kutch.While they r not being used as toys today,often make the Tourists use them as decor.
12)Chankana, Ghuggu and Handwai
Punjabi toys include chankana(a toy with a whistle),ghuggu(rattle box for babies),lattoo (spinning top),handwai(kitchen sets),gudda guddi,& charkha (lady spinning yarn at the wheel).These were traditionally made of kharia mitti (porous mud).
13)Lacquer toys
Frm small town Budhni, along banks of Narmada, MP reside makers of eco-friendly lacquered wooden toys. Soft wood of Dudhi branches r cut in required shape, lacquered mixing colourful dye with chapdi &chandrak, natural wax agents finished with kewda oil for gloss.
14)Bhatukali miniature kitchen sets
Bhatukali a miniature kitchen toy set. Earliest reference to Bhatukali is found in 'Dnyaneshwari', written by 12th century Marathi Sant Dnyaneshwar. These sets used to be made of copper and brass traditionally. Steel versions are cheaper.
15)Sawantwadi toys
Sawantwadi, Maharashtra famous for wooden toys craft& Ganjifa playing cards. Made frm Pangara tree& mango tree wood, crafted by Chitari or Chitrakar community that migrated frm Karwada. The cut outs are then sanded and painted, & assembled to create the toy.
16)Etikoppaka bommalu
From Andhra Pradesh,Traditional shapes of toys include a farmer with nagali, a bridal set, veena, sannai melam, wedding sweets . While traditionally, these toys were once handmade, the artisans use machinery now.
17)The walnut wood carving of Kashmir makes Dolls & hv original luster. Walnut wood is a soft wood which makes its highly suitable for carving. The preparation of the dolls involves selecting the tree first. Three parts of the tree are involved the trunk, branches & the root.
