#Govanhill 🧵: A lone man with an aspiration to be a Mental Health “vlogger/advocate” youtuber for men has started patrolling Govanhill to “get the word out” about child sexual exploitation & general living standards of the area. The Good Samaritan, we know how this goes..

He went up many closes filming, but there was nothing to see in the “nice closes”. He then chose the worst closes to use as “evidence” (they are online and easy to find). Closes that have been condemned, that have no factor and are known to be owned by slum landlords.

During this he spoke about groups of people who are “filthy”.
Cue racism cloaked as the Good Samaritan.
The dog whistles started. The community is no stranger to racist tropes about “dirty foreigners” & general policing of non-white families, it is vile, threatening and not on.

We have a duty to call it out & challenge random people that show up “knowing” more than the community & professionals. They are inciting racial hatred and we cannot be silent on this. I trust the people that work and live there more than a 2 bob GI Joe, and so should you.

He approached flats that had toys & stickers outside, he used this as “evidence” that children and women, were for sale. Remind anyone of pizzagate & the QAnon symbols? In a world of tech are we really ordering kids via stickers on walls? Is that how they are hoodwinking us all?

He stated he has many people who can substantiate his claims, but they all too scared to go on record. We have had this before, taxi drivers, shop keepers, publicans. I remember the last time these rumours surfaces none of these people could offer evidence, they were questioned.

Again, if you are aufait with the community you will know this myth has been circulating for years.
Yes there are vulnerable families and allegations of many things (as is the same throughout the country/uk). These are thoroughly investigated by the police, SW & other agencies

So the lone random guy with a military background started “getting the word out” cue misinformation – the tweets were picked up by bots, accounts with relatively no followers and retweeted until there were picked up by real accounts, this is how misinfo works,

It is fake news that comes in on a vehicle of a proposed "real & credible" source the aspiring vlogger. It is designed to disrupt and initiate emotional outrage and responses at something that is not happening. Who would not be outraged at children being exploited?

Filming a live feed on your phone patrolling an area is not evidence of anything, what the lone man is doing, is signalling to predators that Govanhill is a hotspot for preying on vulnerable groups.

He is doing his own PR and putting people at risk from people approaching the area in the hope they stumble across someone they can exploit on top of inciting racial hatred. He is the problem.

Govanhill has been the target of far-right racist organising groups for years. It is a hugely diverse area and the constituency of the FM, it is always going to be an area that people will actively work to disrupt, discredit and scaremonger.

The community are no stranger to having randoms showing up to “save” everyone from the political coverup. This is an orchestrated nonsense and anything that is happening is being dealt with people more qualified that the average tweeter.

What this man has done has put a spanner in any current live investigations going on (if there are any). It can take a long time to investigate and gain solid evidence of exploitation of people. A poor imitation of Ross Kemp is not going to deliver truth or justice for anyone.

The videos served a purpose.
Is it no coincidence that the far right have spent the morning picketing a minister who is a man of colour with "all lives matter" propaganda. Inciting racial hatred is high on the agenda for many groups, it always has been.

We must stand up to it.
