We interviewed 52 staff members across a range of disciplines involved in PICU early mobility at @HopkinsKids.
ID'd factors influencing @PICU_Up integration, positive impressions, barriers, and areas of improvement. 2/8
Several important themes and constructs emerged, some previously documented in #ICURehab, some that surprised us! 3/8
Some broad takeaways:
1. PICU early mobilization continues to be positively received!! Can be integrated and sustained through a process that focuses on inter-professional leadership, unit culture change, and staff/patient/family engagement. 4/8
2. Barries to consistent mobility remain but have also evolved with program growth - challenges in resource management, sedation, and developmentally appropriate mobility. 5/8
3. Room for innovation to facilitate early mobility exists (and is needed), through improved communication, documentation, simulation.
We hope many of these themes will be helpful for units looking to create PICU early mobility initiatives or grow existing programs! 6/8
Grateful for the incredible group of people that helped get this over the finish line, and all the staff at @HopkinsPICU that took time out of their schedules to help us better understand the impact of @PICU_Up 7/8
And of course, thank you to @SapnaKmd for giving me the chance to turn this project into reality - this would not have been possible without your mentorship, support, and vision 😊 #PedsICU 8/8
