here is obama eloquently explaining how values like freedom & democracy needed to be asserted by the US otherwise they wouldn't have manifested by themselves

just happens to be that "asserted" means aggression by dropping tens of thousands of drone strikes, covert operations to undermine governments which are opposed to interests of Western corporations, which led to open slave markets in libya and never ending wars in the Middle East

also bold for him to claim that he believes in those values the US "articulates" while signing the NDAA, ppl being tortured in guantamo, expanding the surveillance state, building the cages at the US border, or meddling with the democratic processes of sovereign countries

US foreign policy does literally the complete opposite of spreading "freedom & democracy"; whenever ppl wanted to enact mild social reforms to improve their lives, as in Guatemala w\ land reforms or in Iran to nationalize oil & have better labor conditions, the US chose to invade

however, if there happens to be an authoritarian ruling over a nation who is buddies with US billionaires or a harsh military apparatus, the US chooses to leave them alone. funny how that works. turns out spreading "freedom & democracy" actually means spreading war & dictatorship
