A statement released by the Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, said, “the Y2020/2021 First (1st) term academic session for public and private schools comes to an end on Friday, 18th December 2020.

"Therefore, all public and private schools below tertiary level in the State should close for the Christmas and New Year holiday on that day. Schools are to resume on Monday, 4th January 2021, in compliance with the Lagos State harmonised academic calendar”.

Mrs. Seriki-Ayeni noted that boarding house students are expected back in school on Sunday, 3rd January 2021, while academic activities will commence immediately.

The DG urged all schools to ensure that their operational, academic, health and safety, as well as data and communication plans, are uploaded onto the Office of Education and Quality Assurance website: oeqalagos.com as they complete the online registration process.
She also advised parents to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols at home while maintaining that all school proprietors and administrators must ensure compliance with COVID-19 guidelines when schools resume for the 2nd term on Monday, 4th January 2021.

In an effort to reduce road accidents on Lagos roads during the yuletide season and beyond, General Manager, Lagos State Drivers’ Institute, Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu has called on all motorists in the State to shun over-speeding and over-loading of their vehicles for all trips.

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, who was represented by the Director of Admin and Human Resources in the District, Mrs. Grace Olubunmi-Olaopin, urged the students to use the holiday to seek the face of God while they celebrate the Christmas season and beyond.
