And sometimes, engine oil can leak into the air supply, potentially releasing toxic gases into the plane.

The air gets extremely hot as it's compressed in the turbines.

Some of the air is pulled off the engine and routed into the plane's air conditioning system.

The show boosted many cast members into stardom, including Zachary Quinto and Hayden Panettiere.
