We could pretend that the spat was over the use of the DH in the National League OR something more serious like the care of Hellenistic widows. Either way gospel identity is of greater value. When true companion reminds of the gospel, unity happens when both parties embrace. 2/
But what happens if 2-3 years down the road when a debate on the DH flares up again and thus time true companion picks a side and says the only Christian position is a DH in the NL? What does that do to Together for the Gospel? 3/
Better yet, what does Euodia feel if her “error” gets shouted down but for 2-3 years True Companion never calls out the error of Syntyche? And when TC even inches closer and closer to her position? It means the gospel was manipulated to appease instead of unify. 4/
And this is why I think men like @CharlieDates are saying “we out”. It’s not to full-throated endorse something like CRT. It’s because we said SBC is all about the gospel now. But then we proceeded to attach non-gospel issues to the ship. (I.e. vote Republican). 5/
And when they leave and we have folks celebrating because we got rid of more Team Euodia, it shows that some aren’t really about Jesus-gospel unity but about Syntyche-gospel unity. And together for the gospel meant that one. End/ #heartbroken #stillT4G #therealOne
