In this thread I would like to present to you my dear reader a book by the name of โ€œVeda Slavyan/Vedas of the Slavsโ€ which was written/compiled by Stefan Verkovich. Image
This book caught my attention because of

1) the knowledge that it held about the descendants of the Slavic people and

2)the rich songs which provide the reader with vivid descriptions of ancient Vedic customs and beliefs.
The full name of this text is

โ€œThe Vedas of the Slavs: Ritual Songs of pagan times, preserved by oral tradition among the Macedonian and Thracian Bulgar Pomacksโ€ Image
Essentially the text is a collection of:

epic songs,

poems,

and legends from the Bulgarian Pomak people (located in the Rhodope Mountains),

and notes/explanations from the Author, Stefan Verkovich.
Prior to exploring the contents of the text

I would like to first present the history behind the book and author.
Stefan Verkovich was a Serbo-Bosnian folklorist, archaeologist, historian, numismatist (coin/coinage historian), collector of epic songs, and an ethnographer. Image
Stefan had a burning passion for collecting and analyzing folk songs of ancient times.

His first published book โ€œFolk songs of the Macedonian Bulgariansโ€ became a valuable contribution to the field of Bulgarian folklore.
He was an all Slavic Patriot and a member of the Yugoslavian โ€œIllyrian Movement of 1848โ€ which fought for the liberation of the Slavs from foreign powers.
It was during the research of the songs found in his first books that he came upon a trail of songs that led him to the Pomack Bulgarian people of the Rhodope Mountains. Image
For the next few months of his life he settled near the Pomacks and began learning their songs and culture directly from the elders, singers, and poets of the people.
According to Stefan, these Pomack Bulgarians were carriers of a living ancient vedic tradition.

The Bulgarian Pomacks โ€œformally adoptedโ€ Islam but many of them continued to sing ancient ritual Slavic songs, inherited from their distant ancestors. ImageImageImageImage
In fact, Allah and Muhammad are not even mentioned once in these songs of the Pomacks, instead we see Slavic and proto-Slavic gods mentioned.
Verkovich later found out that the Pomack people were once in the possession of sacred vedic texts that were written in case there was an interruption in the oral transmission of the songs.

"Zvezdnitsa - contained songs about what the stars say and what will happen and when"
"Clear Book" is a collection of songs sung during sacrifices .
"Zemnitsa- a book of songs about the land on which the ancestors of the Slavs walked, and how they settled new lands"

"Petitsa" - a bird bookโ€
However, he later discovered that these books were burned when the Pomack people were going through a forced Islamization.

Luckily, the Pomacks culture was so high that many of the elders were able to quote parts of these burned books by heart.
In 1867, Verkovich came to Moscow to look for Slavic Scholars who would support his research and provide funding.

At the archaeological congress in Moscow he managed to become the acquaintance of the Tsar-Emperor Alexander II and present him with his work.
The Tsar greatly admired the work of Verkovich and provided funding for research as well as a good word with other "nobles" and prominent historians.
Due to this many of the nobility began to provide funding to Verkovich.

Some of them were:
The Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich,
Grand Duke Sergiy Alexandrovich,
Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich,
Prince Alexander Petrovich Oldenburgsky,
and many more.
It wasn't just the Slavic people who were excited about the discovery of these songs but so too were the French and Germans and other Countries.

โ€œDelighted with their discovery were the French Emil Burnov, Albert Dumont, August Dozon, who at that time was consul in ......
Plovdiv, then Solun, Ioannina - corresponding member of the French Academy of Sciences; Slovak Jan Shafarik, Poles Alexander Khodko, assistant to A. Mitskevich, Borislav Gabrovsky, Leopold Heitler, Russian scientists Academician Izmail Sreznevsky, Vsevolod Miller"
The french who by that time had created the largest school in Europe for researching and studying the vedas became so interested in these songs that they themselves went to the Rhodope Mountains.
โ€œThe French Ministry of Public Education, in order to be convinced of the authenticity of Verkovich's collection, instructed the consul in Philippopolis, Mr. Dozon, a man who speaks South Slavic dialects, to check the "Slavic Veda" In the Rhodope Mountains,......
...Dozon went there for two months, and then confirmed the authenticity and certainty of Verkovich's collection by publishing articles in the Journal officiel for February 19, 1873, as well as in the Annales des missons scientifiques.โ€
โ€œThe French, Dumont and Dozon, wrote detailed accounts and confirmed the Rhodope discovery. Kachanovsky, having arrived from Russia to Gologanov, made sure that the published songs were sung by the people.โ€
" Then the Italian magazine "Giornal Araldico ...", July 1872, wrote: "The songs of the" Slavic Veda "in their importance and vastness occupy the first place among all the literary monuments of antiquity, not excluding the famous Mahabharata"
The famous Bur-nyuf In order to personally verify the authenticity of the Rhodope songs, also traveled to Macedonia and also confirmed the existence of Vedic songs and customs among the Pomak Bulgarians.
Although with all this backing and verification from 3rd parties, due to a series of unfortunate events Verkoviches book became to be targeted as a forgery.

This came to be during the 4th archaeological congress which was held in Kazan in 1877.
During this congress a certain party of critics denied all of Verkoviches claims and began to throw dirt at Verkovishes work.

โ€œamong the participants of the congress there were pseudo-skeptical specialists who do not admit the possibility of the existence of such songs ......
....in Bulgaria, since they contain information about such a distant era, the memory of which could not be preserved in folk poetryโ€
Its interesting that in all of the mentions of this party the actual name of them or where they are from is never mentioned.

Only mentioned is that this party had incredible ties with the government and it is through these connections they were able to denounce Verkoviches work
In the end their name or origins are not important because we know of their goals and motivations, to bury the true ancient history of all people and replace it with one of their own creations.
This take over of history began long ago and people like Verkovich who proposed a view of truth fell victim to their vile lies.
It was after this congress Verkovich lost all faith in publishing the book and translating the remainder of the songs.

However he never lost his passion for the truth, he moved to Sofia and lived the remainder of his life there, studying his beloved folklore songs.
Currently there are two volumes of Veda of the Slavs published,

the first volume containing songs of history and culture ,

the second volume containing many epic songs that described the solar year and other astrological phenomenon, as well as ancient Proto Slavic Gods.
There are however still many untranslated Bulgarian Pomack songs collected by Verkovich stored in Russian Archives.
One of the main problems of this text is the fact that it is not presented chronologically, we are not told exactly when events happened and the exact paths of migration are not noted, essentially all the important information is found scattered and out of order.
However in the end we are still provided with very important pieces of information regarding the true history of ancestors, and truth like that is more precious than anything.
Let us now look at some of the main points of interests of the text which include, Daariya/Hyperborea/The ancient northern homeland of our ancient ancestors, the two catastrophes and exoduses, and the Slavic Gods mentioned in the book.
Verkoviches Veda of the Slavs was one of the first modern books (Published in 1874 and 1881) to discuss Hyperborea and link it with the ancestral homeland of our ancient ancestors.
Later on in 1893 we have the American Historian W.Warren who in his work โ€œFound Paradise, or the Cradle of Humanity at the North Poleโ€ introduced this topic into scientific discussion, as a bold theory/hypothesis.
Later on in 1903 we have the famous Indian scientist and public figure, B. Tilak releasing his โ€œThe Arctic ancestral home in the Vedasโ€ which was based on his research of the ancient sacred vedas.
The information regarding the Arctic ancestral homeland is given to us in one of the epic sons collected by Verkovich, โ€œWedding of the Sun and Volhyniaโ€.

This song occupies almost a third of the first Volume of Vedas of the Slavs and is generally sung on the great day
The song provides information on the beautiful living conditions of the arctic homeland prior to the first major catastrophe (the axis tilt and freeze over), the story of a sun god and daughter of a sky god, .....
a glorious mountain which stood in the middle of the land connecting the people with the gods of heaven, and more.
The first exodus from the arctic homeland is mentioned in several of the collected Pomack songs.

They always mention a progenitor/ leader of a tribe with the name of Yar or Or (Who also had many other names) who was responsible for the successful migration/exodus. ImageImageImageImage
It is noted in this text and others that Yar led our ancient ancestors from the arctic to the south Urals (Semirechye) then to the Dnieper and Carpathian mountains through โ€œthe land of Farsiโ€ (Iran, Syria Mesopotamia Etc)

This leader Yar will be discussed in a future thread. ImageImage
There is also a second exodus of people mentioned in several of the Pomack folk songs,

The exodus of the Atlanteans.
The songs tell a story of a tribe of people (sometimes referred to as the Antes) who survived the destruction of Atlantis and migrated to northern Africa.
From northern Africa they traveled to the Balkans and through there began to settle the regions of Danube River and other lands.
As mentioned previously due to the first exodus there were already tribes of people living in the regions of Danube, Carpathian Mountains, Caucasus mountains, etc.

These two groups began to mix with each other creating a new Era of man.
This Atlantean exodus can also be seen in Noah's flood story (and many others) where he and his people survive by sailing to presumably the Caucasus Mountain region.
In the Vedas of Slavyan and other texts the Atlanteans are mentioned to be the descendants of one of the surviving tribes of the first catastrophe.
They were led by a leader named Antas, Ant, Antlant from the north arctic to the region where Atlantis is proposed to have been.
This leader Antov was known to be part of a clan which differed from all the others of hyperborea, carrying a different haplogroup.
These songs also speak of the great technological advancements of the Atlanteans, mentioning flying ships who had the ability to move โ€œdozens of cows, and many crates of wineโ€.
In their hymns, the pomaks praised the gods Vyshnya, Siva, Zlata Maya, Zhivu-Yuda, Beles, Druida, Kolyada.
The god Vyshnya (The most high) can be compared to Rod and his state prior to the creation of the world (cosmic mind, law, infinite).
The god Siva (Ziba, zhiba, Zhiva) is the all-respectable, formidable and all-powerful Lord of the Universal Fire (often linked with Shiva)
Yudas are mentioned to be representatives of God Siva. In the context of the songs they are referred to as light goddesses, or simply as wise women (Vedmas)
Zhivu-Yuda refers to the goddess Zhiva who is one of Sivas Yudas, a goddess of the fruitful power of life, spring, eternal youth, and highest beauty of nature and man.
Beles = Veles
There are a few perspectives on Zlata-Maya, one being that shes a golden mother goddess who is the wife of Dazhbog.

She has been linked to the planet Venus and Goddess Aphrodite.

Essentially she can be connected to the Goddess Lada and Makosh.

Love in its highest form.
Kolyada is the God of the Young Sun, the God of the Winter Sun, born on the night of the winter solstice, on the longest night of the year.
I will end this thread here but further discussion on the topics above will be explored in future threads.

Among many Slavic communities the svastika is referred to as a Yargic symbol, a solar symbol.

Often these two names, YARGA and SVASTIKA, are interchangeable, but in some cases the Yarga refers to a specific variation of the svastika.
YARGA has two roots

YAR denotes actions performed by the rays of the sun it is a fertilizing, creative force

It also means to be furious, to have lust, to be strong, courageous, and spring

Often this symbol is linked with farming and the God Yarillo, who can be linked to Arius

The gods (patrons, curators, first foreshadows of people) visited Midgard-Earth quite often in the beginning.

They communicated with their descendants of the Great Race, passing on to them Wisdom.
