Truck drivers stranded on the airport near Dover are not allowed to use portable cookers, even outside their trucks, due to fire hazard. So they can't cook themselves a meal or even boil a kettle for tea.
I guess the residents in the area are not amused either...
A Polish language group on FB for HGV drivers in the UK reports, that the drivers are not permitted to walk to the nearby garage with McDonald's (which is the only place to get hot meal within walking distance).
Hopefully things are about to get better: tests, that will allow them to enter France, are allegedly on the way:
Update: the security of the airports turns away people, who want to donate food for the stranded drivers.
Update: Drivers report that there is nowhere near the required number of portaloos, so most of them are already overflowing. Due to extreme crowding and queues to the WC, many drivers decide to relieve themselves on the side of their trucks, so the whole airport smells of piss.
Update: international freight drivers who only transit France will NOT be required to have covid test on entry: uk.ambafrance.org/France-to-admi…
Update: apparently you do, unless you're french truck driver.
