“It’s been a long time coming,” writes our Senior Director @bbaue in the Author’s Foreword to our 1st White Paper, "From Monocapitalism to Multicapitalism: 21st Century System Value Creation” — which we release now after 3+ years in development.

@bbaue "The ideas r3.0 puts forward in this White Paper fall into the ‘challenging’ bucket: the best thought leadership often is,” writes @theiirc CEO Charles Tilley in a Foreword. “Some will be uncomfortable reading about the changes r3.0 perceive
as necessary to embed Multicapitalism"
@bbaue @theiirc "Indeed, the IIRC will not, as a broad coalition, be advocating for
all of the ideas put forward,” Tilley continues. "However, it is important that we have these discussions and understand the history, realities, and future needs of Multicapitalism.”
@bbaue @theiirc "This White Paper presents Multicapitalism as the new paradigm for business and economic decision-making … by challenging us all to move from incremental to transformational thinking,” writes former IIRC CEO (& new r3.0 Steering Board Member) @richardhowitt in a Foreword.
@bbaue @theiirc @richardhowitt "The project had its roots during the period when I had the honour of leading the International Integrated Reporting Council & reflects the commitment to the ‘Sustainability Context’ principle that sets the conceptual foundations of Sustainability & Integrated Reporting” he adds.
@bbaue @theiirc @richardhowitt "The White Paper provides a pathway to how Multicapitalism can become the norm,” Howitt ends. "In a debate about thresholds, perhaps the publication of ‘From Monocapitalism to Multicapitalism' will itself come to be seen as a new threshold in the evolution of business thinking."
@bbaue @theiirc @richardhowitt "I commend the historical work performed in this report to bring to life the thinking around carrying capacities and thresholds. Multicapitalism to many might seems too radical, could I say 'too new’? writes @Audencia Prof (& new r3.0 Steering Board Member) @DelGib in a Foreword.
@bbaue @theiirc @richardhowitt @audencia @DelGib “However, today, it is the only possible thinking to maintain earth and humanity in harmony… So no, it is not impossible, not too radical, not too new for us ... to step forward and do better, by using this Multicapitalism thinking in our day-to-day work,” Gibassier concludes.
@bbaue @theiirc @richardhowitt @audencia @DelGib The concept of Multicapitalism was conceived by r3.0 Advocation Partner @mwmce & former Unilever Finance Exec Martin Thomas in 2014

@bbaue @theiirc @richardhowitt @audencia @DelGib @mwmce McElroy collaborated with White Paper Author Baue to define Monocapitalism as: "capitalism designed to grow and concentrate one form of vital capital – financial capital – very often at the expense of the ongoing viability of other capitals.”
@bbaue @theiirc @richardhowitt @audencia @DelGib @mwmce McElroy & Baue also refined the original definition of Multicapitalism as follows: "capitalism designed to maintain the carrying capacities of all vital capitals (natural, human, social, intellectual, constructed, and financial) respecting normative thresholds."
