Porn stars might not use protection on camera with other *tested* performers, but they overwhelmingly insist on it for off camera hookups.
If a civvie gets a mild STD, they might be uncomfortable for a bit, but if a performer catches one, they lose income for weeks.

And like @brennasparksxxx points out in the article above, the adult industry even has its own lockdown protocols to avoid risk of spreading infections once they have been identified. 
The adult industry is well versed in *empiricism* out of necessity.
Adult businesses and performers know how to beat viruses and infections because they’ve already dealt with them for decades and come out clean.

1. Test everyone, as often as possible, especially people in high risk jobs.
2. Isolate any positives immediately. Contact trace and notify / test all historical contacts.

Spoiler alert, the USA didn't listen to sex workers.

And so it's an unforgivable tragedy that now, right when we need to be listening to and learning from sex workers the most, that they are being targeted by religious extremists who wish to destroy their livelihoods and silence them.
