I'm sending my Christmas wish to you tonight from Bartow Co., Ga. Their 14 day avg case rate per 100K is 🔺806🔺, the surrounding counties are over ⚡1,200⚡. 1/#
I'm eating alone in my car because this county does not have a mask mandate. 9% of all students here are under full quarantine. 25% of the county schools have viral spread within the buildings. 2/#
The blue arrow points to CVS which is PACKED at the moment, NO ONE is wearing a mask. The yellow arrow points to a🎄 on top of the small hospital my mom & her husband are at for severe covid progression. 3/#
The top two floors of the hospital are designated for only covid infections. My mom is on the 2nd floor, her husband is on the 3rd. Each floor has separate teams. HIPAA prevents one team from knowing what the other team is doing. I wonder if this is how my mom pictured it? 4/#
Every door you see to the back end has a covid infection behind it. There are three other hallways just like this. Walking along all you hear is coughing, people trying to catch their breath, oxygen cranked to maximum. 5/#
The hospital has a severe shortage of PPE. Nurses that go into the rooms are given an N95 mask, along with a biological hazard bag to take home. They are expected to wear the mask tomorrow. The plastic gowns covered in infectious droplets and fomites are hung to reuse. 6/#
I admit I'm not mentally in a good place here on Christmas Eve. This town strikes me as incredibly selfish
Everyone living their best life, completely unaware of how many other lives that impacts. I count at least a dozen lives my mom has put at risk through her infection. 7/#
I wish I had something clever or insightful to end this thread with. But it's all been said before. Wash your damn hands. Wear a fucking mask. Stay the hell home. Merry Christmas. end/
