King at the age of 1. With Celtic origins, mother and (later) son beheaded by the English. Two assassination plots with gunpowder, three kingdoms to rule, with a dynasty of four Kings, dying in his fifties, numbered as 6 and 1.

Story in the evening ...
James Charles Stuart was born in 1566 to Mary, Queen of Scotland, and her husband, Duke Henry Stuart of Albany. Soon after his son's birth, the house Henry Stuart was living in was blown up with gunpowder. Henry was dead, apparently strangled, with suspicion falling on Mary. 1/10 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_VI_and_I#/media/File:Jam
Mary would be forced to abdicate and flee by rebellious lords, making James King in 1568. James would be looked after by an array of regents including his grandfather, Earl of Lennox. As Queen Mary sought refuge in England, she would end up getting imprisoned instead. 2/10 https://cdn.britannica.com/02/146802-050-EC5C9729/Mary-Queen
From 1542, Scotland had seen a spate of battles, largely over religion. With neighbouring England breaking away from Rome, Scotland, ruled by the English King's nephew, was expected to follow suit. But the then King James V refused and a state of war followed. 3/10 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Leith#/media/File:Sie
With the English backing the Protestants and the French backing the Catholics, it was finally concluded when young James ruled, with Scotland and its Church adopting the Presbyterian system. James was also a potential heir of the childless Queen Elizabeth of England. 4/10 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marian_civil_war#/media/File:E
In 1587, Queen Mary, who many English Catholics considered as the real Queen, would be beheaded for plotting to kill Queen Elizabeth. Having concluded an Anglo Scottish alliance the previous year, the execution drew only formal protests from King James. 5/10 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babington_Plot#/media/File:Mar
Queen Elizabeth died in 1603, bringing to end the Welsh House of Tudor and James was next in line. Soon King James VI of Scotland was crowned as King James I of England & Ireland. James also had Celtic origins, as the agnatic descendant of a Breton knight, Alan fitz Flaad. 6/10 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_fitz_Flaad#/media/File:Br
Having provided stability and peace in Scotland, King James counted on his experience when he added crowns. But it wasn't long before rebels attempted to kill him and blow up the Parliament in the Gunpowder Plot planned for 5th November, 1605. 7/10 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunpowder_Plot#/media/File:Thehttps://www.amazon.in/V-Vendetta-Alan-Moore/dp/140120841X
The Scottish Royal Court and the English Royal Court were vastly different and the English King would remain at loggerheads with the Parliament for most of the time, especially with the Secretary of State, Robert Cecil of Salisbury, who tried to limit the King's expenses. 8/10 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Cecil,_1st_Earl_of_Sali
Though King James would try to unite England and Scotland, it was only in 1707 that both the Parliaments would pass the Acts creating United Kingdom. Another key event during this time was the plantation of Ulster, which led to English and Scottish migration to the region. 9/10 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plantation_of_Ulster#/media/Fi
The conflicts between James and the English Parliament would worsen under his son, Charles. In 1649, Charles would meet the same fate as his grandmother. After losing the Civil War against the Parliamentarians, he would be tried for treason and beheaded. 10/10 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Execution_of_Charles_I#/media/
