BORI's small contribution in authenticating Ayodhya’s history (A thread) –
As the home of rare manuscripts and as a publisher of historic works, BORI has played a small role in the verification of the history of Ayodhya & finds a mention in the verdict of the hon. Supreme Court
Ayodhya Mahatmya is a manuscript that describes and reveres Ayodhya. A literary work dating back to 1802, It provides salient details of the city which existed in the olden times. An authenticated copy of the manuscript was submitted as an evidence to the hon. Supreme Court.
The history of Dharmaśāstra, the epochal work of Dr. Pandurang Vaman Kane, however contributed more pointedly.
History of Dharmaśāstra is the gold standard, when it comes to history of Hinduism, its laws & customs. it was referred heavily for the Indian Constitution. Dr. Kane was conferred with the "Bharat Ratna" for his seminal contribution. BORI is the proud publisher of this heritage.
During the argument on Ayodhya’s reference in Skanda Purana, the antiquity & the veracity of Skanda Purana was questioned. However, that History of Dharmaśāstra dates Skanda Purana between 7th to 9th century validated its veracity & antiquity in the eyes of the hon Supreme Court.
The purpose of this thread is not to brag but to rather showcase the work that happens here in the context of something historically significant.
Safeguarding various strands and pieces of history, examining their veracity & antiquity, carrying out & publishing original research is what we do. What we focus on, and what we cherish, exists beyond narratives and ideologies, which is purely the knowledge.
