CBS News reports: Roughly a dozen Republican senators are in talks to join Missouri Senator Josh Hawley in objecting to the electoral college results when congress meets Wednesday, according to multiple Republican sources familiar with the ongoing talks.
The list is expected to include @MarshaBlackburn (R-TN), @SenatorBraun (R-IN) and incoming senators @BillHagertyTN , @TTuberville and @CynthiaMLummis.

These Republicans are looking to prove something that doesn’t exist: widespread election fraud. Their push is fueled by conspiracy theories and a president who has raised money pushings narratives that are not based in facts. Those are the facts. apnews.com/article/barr-n…
Some republicans are calling BS on this. @BenSasse: “Let’s be clear what is happening here: We have a bunch of ambitious politicians who think there’s a quick way to tap into the president’s populist base without doing any real, long-term damage” nytimes.com/2020/12/31/us/…
About 1/6/21, the @senatemajldr was paraphrased as saying, "I'm finishing 36 years in the Senate and I've cast a lot of big votes...including over war and impeachment...And in my view, just my view...this is will be the most consequential I have ever cast”

BREAKING: Ted Cruz is taking it a step further saying on 1/6/21 he’ll demand: “Congress should immediately appoint an Electoral Commission, with full investigatory & fact-finding authority, to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states...”
“... Once completed, individual states would evaluate the Commission’s findings and could convene a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if needed.”
Flashback: (2018) “The now-disbanded voting integrity commission launched by the Trump administration uncovered no evidence to support claims of widespread voter fraud, according to an analysis of administration documents released Friday.”

.@SenJohnThune has vowed to stop efforts to overturn the election results which the attorney general said had no widespread fraud
@govkristinoem is leading, she’d tell you, being against mask mandates, or closures, etc...S.D. led the world, for a while, in COVID deaths per capita
As of December 20th, the “The Five States Making the Fastest Progress Giving Covid Shots” were:
West Virginia, followed by North Dakota (0.74%), South Dakota (0.71%), Colorado (0.54%), and Maine (0.33%)

GOP Whip @SenJohnThune (off cam) was asked about the President’s tweet calling for him to be primaried. He laughed telling reporters, “Yeah! Well finally an attack tweet! What took him so long? It’s fine that’s the way he communicates.”

Reps for Puerto Rico’s governor elect @pedropierluisi were warned: the governors inauguration scheduled for Saturday, with 400+ ppl, was a high risk activity not recommended by CDC or the scientific coalition Pierluisi commissioned. That’s according to a member of the coalition.
I’m told that concerns were expressed in detail, and candidly, and that the governors representatives listened to the members of the scientific coalition, for more than two hours. Ultimately, the went against the recommendations of the group.
The CDC has said for many months: large gatherings are not recommended during the pandemic.
Pierluisi’s team is requiring that guests wear masks & that each guest show proof of a negative Covid test. Test results must be emailed by 5pm local time on Friday

Somebody gifted me some Coquito, which I’ve never tried before, (but will tonight for the first time at midnight) and I decided to share what I had with my friends on @CBSThisMorning.
I’m gonna take my first sip of Coquito tonight at midnight as I ring in the new year with my partner in Los Angeles. I’m going there because I’ll be live Monday morning from L.A. reporting on the coronavirus, and luckily I’ll get to stay at my home with Jeremy.
He and I have both been tested within the last 24 hours (I’m tested every other day) and I’m so happy we can be together to welcome a new year. 🙏🏼

Puerto Rico’s Governor-elect @pedropierluisi is being widely criticized for planning an inauguration Saturday with 400+ guests. Pierluisi says guests will be tested. The Health Secretary says he's not worried b/c guests will be "educated" & "conscious”

One notable message I received, in reaction to the Governor-elects decision, was from a doctor who wrote: “400 people invited to PR’s next governor’s inauguration activity this Saturday. Like the law does not apply to them & there’s no pandemic, I’m a doctor & my husband is a...
...critical care specialist doctor dealing directly with Covid patient’s, this is really sad & unbelievable...they keep defending their gathering saying that they are educated people and will keep distance, it’s illegal for me to see my family, but they can gather 400 people?...”

CBS News reports a law enforcement source said one theory investigators are looking at, regarding the Nashville Christmas Day explosion, is the possibility that AT&T may have been the target or some other building or infrastructure in the area of the explosion.
The RV housing the explosive device was parked at the AT&T building in downtown Nashville  since Christmas Eve a day before the explosion.
The blast caused considerable damage to AT&T, which apparently is a communication switch hub, knocking out internet & cell phone service throughout a wide area from Nashville to Alabama.
