Welcome everyone to #PuppyBookClub and our first meeting of 2021! Before we begin a new year of exciting reads, I thought we could take a look back at a year where books really became more important to our wellness and I hope this club helped! Let's look back...(see thread 1/15)
January started with "Finding Narnia"! We broke out some Beatles tunes and read cool letters written to the band (thanks Jax @miniaussiejax for the great book)! We also read "Walter the Farting Dog" a fave of Zenith @HounddogZenith and some Robert Burns poetry! (2/15)
February saw us find our Valentine with Grumpy Cat, be patient like Supergirl, learn that families are special and start our chapter book with a Hardy Boys mystery! (3/15)
We finished our Hardy Boys mystery in March! March also brought some very uneasy times in the world! We discovered how to help entertain children with simple crafts! We also read about Superman and began preparing for Easter! (4/15)
April we did our best to welcome Easter, put on a Paddington play, studied hobbies and read the book with the name that makes my mom laugh...Betty Spaghetti! (5/15)
In May we welcomed great guest speaker Apollo @ApollosPack and enjoyed reading his fantastic book! We drew worlds with a purple crayon, went on a ghost hunt with Elsa and Anna and met a coyote named Frank! (6/15)
In June we learned about honeybees and Hugglefish! We read about a brave woman named Viola Desmond! We visited a Seuss classic and started into July with Buffy the Vampire Slayer Somewhere this summer we also did a games week! (7/15)
Summer reads in July included a classic honey hunt with the Berenstain Bears, a sandcastle build by Robert Munsch and a dip in the pool with Clifford! We also discovered a lovely storybook called "The Bear, the Piano, the Dog and the Fiddle" (8/15)
August we had a month of awesome guest speakers! Wilbur and Ernie @WonderWilbur, Penny Lane @Penny_Lane_Pup, author Ryan Cochrane @NanaScrappyBook and my Aunt Sara all came to talk with us about creativity, community and literacy! (9/15)
September saw the arrival of my good pal Aha! Aha was a gift from my very dear friend Wilma @WilmaBenton19! We looked at books that tackled school jitters and children navigating school in a COVID world! We also met some rebel girls and a few pirates! (10/15)
October brought some fall reads and Halloween fun! Aunt Sara helped with some spooky crafts and we dressed up to have some fun! (11/15)
We snuck in a couple of reads in November prior to our Holiday Blitz! We read some fun thoughts from a doggo and revisited our pal Paddington for some barber shop fun! (12/15)
Holiday Blitz began in November and boy did we have fun! We read some great books about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Christmas! We even managed a visit from Santa himself! (13/15)
So what's next you may ask? Well here are just a few of the books Aha and I are reviewing for the months ahead! Also a look at e-readers and the soon to be first doggos of the US book! (14/15)
Wow! Look at all the books we have read and reviewed together! Give yourselves a big round of applause! 👏👏👏👏👏I hope #PuppyBookClub has been a positive place for you to come to over this past year! Thank you for your friendship and support to children's literacy! (15/15)
I almost forgot I did another special interview this past year with my bestest pal Penny @CanadianPenny1 🇨🇦! She came to speak with us about researching and putting together her fantastic Pennys Fun Facts! She was awesome to come and do that for us! 💜🌻
