Pakistani-Truck-Art is a unique art of decorating and painting trucks in traditional Pakistani designs, patterns and poetry. It is an important aspect of Pakistani culture that started in the city of Karachi, made famous worldwide by hippies in the 60s and 70s. 🇵🇰 (Thread) ImageImageImageImage
During the economic boom in 1960s many Truck drivers started painting their trucks to look unique and find transportation work, who used to travel all over the country. The art style, patterns and designs used are traditional ethnic designs which are centuries old ImageImageImage
The drivers usually name their trucks e.g Rani ''Queen'', Anarkali ''Pomegranate blossom'' etc and decorate them like a bride and consider these trucks as a companion as it is inside the truck where they will spend most of their time ImageImageImage
Poetry regarding heartbreak, wisdom, sufism and famous Pakistani cultural slangs, places and personalities are painted on the back and sides of the trucks. ImageImageImageImage
This Art has now become the face of Pakistan. It represents Pakistani art and culture. It is now famous all over the world. ImageImageImageImage
This Art though started with trucks but now has spread to other modes of transportation like buses, rickshaws, cards etc and culture, and is now found in every aspects of Pakistani society ImageImageImageImage
Artists from Pakistan are specially called all over the world to decorate and paint for them in different events and for cultural exhibitions

Do you Know that the first Personal Computer Virus aka ''Brain'' which took world by storm, was created by 2 Pakistani brothers Amjad Alvi and Basit Alvi in Lahore to protect their business from being stolen, back in 1986?

An Interesting Small Thread:
In mid 1980s, Basit & Amjad were running their computer store in Lahore.

Their business was going good until some customers started circulating illegal copies of their software that even made it outside the country, resulting loss in business, recognition in a very niche market
When this did not stopped the brothers took matters in their own hand and developed ''Brain Virus''.

IBM PC data was stored on floppy disks, It was on one such disk that Amjad had copied the Brain Virus which became the first viral computer infestation the world had seen

Ali Ahmed Aslam, The Pakistani immigrant in Glasgow, who invented of one of the world's most iconic dish and U.K's most loved curry Chicken Tikka Masala, passed away at 77.

Ali Ahmed was born near Lahore, Pakistan and moved to Glasgow in the 1950s at 16. Aslam came from a very poor background. In morning he worked in the haberdashery business and in evening as worker in an restaurant where he saved money that helped him open a restaurant of his own
Later, in 1964, Ali opened his own restaurant called Shish-Mahal meaning ''Palace of Mirrors'' or ''Crystal Palace'' in Glasgow's west end. It is named after an actual historical place in Lahore, similarly called Shish Mahal, built under Emperor Shah Jahan in 1632. ImageImageImage

During the Cold War, Pakistan Air Force forced the Soviet and Afghan forces to retreat and stopped Pak air space violation and protected millions of Afghan Refugees who were running to Pakistan to escape Massacres by Afghanistan and the Super Power USSR. Brief Thread 🔴. ImageImage
In the late 80s, The D.R Afghanistan with the Soviets wanted to bomb Afghan refugee camps in Pak. They started with air space violation, Pakistan initially warned then started going after intruders when violations did not stop, knowing the risk as it involved a Superpower.
In May 1986, Pak F-16 were vectored towards two DRAAF Su-22M3K penetrating Pak airspace near Parachinar. The PAF F-16s closed within six miles the Afghan jets retreated back, Sq.Ldr Hameed Qadri launched Sidewinder hitting its target while shooting down the other with a gun. Image
