As the son of a middle-class railway employee, he was aware of how ease of commuting can transform lives. His dream was to have a suburban rail system connecting not only jakkur, kengeri, bommanhalli but also Tumkur, Doddaballapur, Chickballapur, Mandya with Bengaluru.
In 2014, he highlighted the fact that though the Karnataka BJP govt had sent in a proposal and had stated that it will bear 50% of the cost. @kharge the then rail minister had taken no action.

In 2018 just months before AnanthKumar ji's demise, @arunjaitley ji, the then finance minister declared an amount of 17,000 crore for this project.
