Do you treat politics as a spectator or as an active participant?
In my opinion, the easiest way to make the transition from spectator is to join an organization/union.

A lot of people believe this means boring and extra work, but it can be what you make of it (e.g. a fun activity).
Another benefit of joining a union is for self-care, as this article points out:

Most people agree with the points above, but aren't sure which organizations/unions to join.

Although there are no perfect groups (if there were we would probably not need them 😅), my advice is to simply join one and see if you can make it into the type of group you'd like.
If anything, it will teach you what you like/dislike in an organization.

Furthermore, it's a great way to network and meet people with similar interests.

Below are some of my favorite organizations/unions (please feel free to add yours👍🏻).
In Bonn, Germany 🇩🇪:

• FAU Bonn (@FAUBonn) is an Anarcho-syndicalist union that not only works on local issues, but it's also active in global labor struggles.

Check out their work (available in German, English, Romanian and Spanish):

• DiEM25 Bonn (@diem25bonn1) organized a protest in support of #JulianAssange and in November hosted an event to compare Europe's climate plans (in German):

They are currently setting up local groups to focus on the environment and art (stay tuned).
• Extinction Rebellion Bonn (@BonnXr) has some great and creative organizers.

Last Saturday they were out protesting for a car-free zone in downtown Bonn.

They have also protested against the expansion of the A565 highway:

• Scientists for Future Köln/Bonn (@s4f_koeln_bonn) are a group of scientists who put out some great information regarding the climate crisis.

They also hold (now virtually) town halls to inform the public and answer questions about the issues we face.

• Friday for Future Bonn (@BonnFuture) has some of the most active organizers I've met.

Not only have they organized the biggest protests in the city, they've also forced the mayoral candidates to a podium discussion to make their plans known to the public.
• Citizens Summons Bonn (@CitizensSummons) is a collective whose members support the #EZLN (Zapatistas) and are currently organizing to support the EZLN's trip to Europe.

In Germany 🇩🇪:

• The Ya-Basta+Netz (@ya_basta_netz) is a group of individuals and solidarity and action groups who support the Zapatistas in Germany.

In the US 🇺🇸:

• United Left (@OurUnitedLeft) just launched last summer and it's filled with a lot of talented organizers.

And this new year they are even more motivated 😃!
