Debate also interrupted in the House. Members being escorted off the floor as police secure doors

Senate Democratic Leader calls for the immediate removal of President Trump
Schumer more: "If the Vice President and the Cabinet refuse to stand up, Congress must reconvene to impeach President Trump."

The House and Senate are scheduled at this point to be out of DC from now until January 19. Pelosi holds a 1 pm newser. We'll see if anything changes.

Back in the Senate, Sen. Lindsey Graham R-SC says "Enough is enough" about GOP efforts to overturn the election.

The last time the Senate voted on such an electoral vote objection, the Senate rejected the challenge in 2005 on a vote of 74-1.

Only Sen. Barbara Boxer D-CA supported the effort.

Democrats may be heading to a giant double Senate victory in Georgia, which would give them control of the US Senate later this month. That's the big news this morning as the Congress gets ready to ratify Joe Biden's 2020 election victory.

Perdue lead down to 456 votes. Ossoff would seem to have a possible edge with extra votes still to be counted in metro Atlanta. But we'll see.
Unclear how many more votes will be tallied tonight in Georgia.

Warnock leads Loeffler by 35,000.

Perdue currently leads Ossoff by 1,869 votes.
Warnock lead now edges up to 36,000.

Perdue lead shrinks to under 1k.
