PENCE speaking in the Senate chamber: "To those who wreaked havoc in our Capitol today, you did not win."
MCCONNELL: "We are back at our posts, we will discharge our duty under the Constitution and for our nation. And we're going to do it tonight."
MCCONNELL labels today's violence an "insurrection."
SCHUMER: "Unfortunately, we can now add Jan. 6 ,2021 to that very short list of dates in American history that will live forever in infamy. This temple to democracy was desecrated."
LOEFFLER changes her mind. "I cannot now in good conscience object."
Lawmkers rescinding their objcetions to the Electoral College votes are acknowledging they didn't have proof of the allegations behind their challenges and were just doing it to make a point.
GRAHAM. after flirting with Trump's voter fraud claims for months, is torching Trump's voter fraud case and pressure campaign against Pence.
"It is over ... [Biden] is the legitimate president of the United states."
REMEMBER: Republicans expected 140ish members to support challenges in the House. If the number drops sharply, it'll be the result of today's violence, which has spooked some GOP lawmakers into reversing course.
A MAJORITY of the House GOP has endorsed throwing out Arizona's electors over baseless assertions of fraud. 106 and counting of the 209 Republicans (with more votes still to come) have backed the challenge.
This suggests there's not any rethinking despite today's violence.
REMINDER: In 2005, just 31 Democrats supported a challenge to Ohio's electoral votes. A lot skipped the vote but most opposed.
This time, 121 House Republicans — nearly 60 percent of the conference — endorsed the challenge, which has been egged on by Trump and led to violence in the Capitol today.
FWIW: Biden will cross 270 electoral votes after Vermont's total is certified. There will still be a few states to count, but Bernie's state will be the one that puts him over the threshold.

Rep. LOFGREN, who chairs the House Administration Committee, says the Capitol Police chief incorrectly told her that the National Guard was at the ready ahead of the Jan. 6 session.
"What they told me about the National Guard was just not true."
While she says most Capitol Police acted honorably and risked their lives to protect people, a handful need to be investigated for potentially letting rioters into the Capitol and, in at least one case, taking selfies with them.
LOFGREN explaining her support for a potential second Trump impeachment:
"This is about securing the United States from someone who seems to have lost it. As much as I disagree with Mike Pence, he is living in the real world."
It's 2:55 a.m. and I just figured out how Pence massaged the rules of the Electoral College counting session to avoid introducing the "rival" slates of Trump electors.
These are the instructions VPs have given out at the start in each of the last 5. Note the difference?
TLDR: The law specifies that the VP must introduce all "purported" electoral votes. This year, that might've included the unserious/mock Trump electors.
But Pence worked with the parliamentarian to interpret it so only electors backed by a state "authority" would be introduced.
Note how Pence emphasizes, before introduced each state that not only is the slate of electors "regular" and "authentic," but that the parliamentarian has advised him is the only one backed by a state "authority."
That is not a regular acknowledgment at these sessions.
BREAKING: Pence will not try to block Biden's electors
PENCE: "It is my considered judgment that my oath to support and defend the Constitution constrains me from claiming unilateral authority to determine which electoral votes should be counted and which should not."
Trump is still speaking at his rally and just minutes ago said he'd be "very disappointed" in Pence if he made this decision.
NEW: First thing’s first — Joe Biden will be certified as president sometime tonight or tomorrow.
The interim, however, could be deeply damaging to democracy as Trump loyalists seek to overturn the results and authorities hope to stave off violence.
TRUMP has fueled that fear by insisting on conspiracy theories about his loss and asserting fringe notions that Pence, who will preside today, has the power to change the outcome.
The one change between last night and this morning? The doomed Republican effort will take place against the backdrop of a Washington that’s on the verge of complete Democratic control.
