A lovely read, I'd entirely forgotten about Boucherie Lamartine. Back in the day, if you wanted a French cut of veal, or good bread and cheese, you'd make the pilgrimage to Ebury Street & Elizabeth Street - there was no 'buy online'! Seems impossible now
We all know what a huge impact Albert & Michel had on the culinary world, but via their TV show they had an even more profound impact on diners. They taught us that provenance was everything!
Almost everything important I learnt about cooking began here, and I'm profoundly grateful to them.
I'm lucky enough to have spent time in the field with Michel - he was charming, generous, courteous, funny, hungry (!). There's now a huge Roux shaped hole in the UK food scene.
We're lucky we have Alain and Michel Jr to carry on that legacy, especially their work with the @RouxScholarship, and its pantheon of glittering winners and competitors.
In terms of the books, they're all brilliant of course, but my favourite is Cooking for Two - it roots me right back in the '90s! Delicious dishes. If you can find a copy of Ask Albert, that's great fun too - he used to answer our questions in the Evening Standard - hilarious!

Just re-reading the @IndependentSage school recommendations. It says that "A Young Minds report found that 87% of school pupils said that they were lonely during the first lockdown, and that 69% of those back at school said their mental health was poor.
While we're homeschooling again, I wonder which strategies people have found work best, to keep their children engaged with their friends? Also, do people have a view on which homeschooling software is keeping children engaged? #homeschooling#IndependentSAGE
