I mean feel free to criticize them (or the liberals or the ndp or whoever) on their own grounds but grafting everything onto american politics is intellectualy lazy

a lot of standard Canadian Conservative policy would be derided as radical left in the States. Likewise, there are many Democrat policies that Canadians would see as extremely right. Almost like they are two different countries

People are pointing me to the "Justin Trudeau is rigging the next election in his favour" ad but
1. It's an old ad, not new
2. It wasn't claiming widespread voter fraud, ala Trump. It was criticizing specific election spending rules the NDP also opposed cbc.ca/news/politics/…

And sure you can talk about the hyperbole of it, but the context of 2018 was different, and these complaints are VERY different from claiming massive voter fraud or undermining the electoral system itself

Also, putting aside individual parties the idea that all bad things in Canada are because of the baddies in the United States is a convenient way to ignore our own particular brand of bull

I also am seeing references to the Rebel but if you think the Rebel carries much water for the current iteration of the CPC, especially since the PPC was formed, you haven't been paying much attention there

Also, the CPC circa 2015 was setting up barbaric practices tip lines and running an election on a wedge issue around niqabs, before Trump ever became president. We are fully capable of having our own populist movements. It doesn't need to be imported
